The article states that dozens of drug cases were thrown out last year, but this should trigger an automatic review of every single case this deputy has even tangentially been a part of. Not just cases where he was the lead investigator or a key witness. If this deputy even got a cup of coffee down the street from a crime scene, that conviction should be reviewed. Because there’s no way for us to know how deep this goes, and how much they have been tampering with. It’s entirely possible that this deputy would just drive by crime scenes and plant evidence for other cops to discover.
He should be given the longest sentence he tried to foist on an innocent. Marijuana convictions get longer time than this sack of shit did for actually ruining multiple lives.

20 years even after pleading guilty, sounds like he was looking at much much longer if he had gone to court
that is generally how it works. You get less time for pleading guilty, because then you aren’t taking up the court’s money and time on a case.
