Sure, I’m blaming protestors for not being effective. And not specific to any particular event. In general most protests I see in my life have been useless and theatrics. Telling people to just show up and hope for the best in my mind is immoral, unethical and should discussed more.

No more than a cow is responsible for being led to a slaughterhouse. But what good is blaming the farmer if the cow still gets slaughtered. The cows can have all the moral and ethical validation they like, the farmers and asshole, he’s a fascist, ooo he’s such an authoritarian and is just like hitler. That cow is still being corralled and led by the farmer because the farmer knows exactly how that animal behaves and has figured out how to lead it where it wants.

Protestors will continue to show up and seriously pull the same dumb tactics that kids did in the 60s and 70s and 80s … meanwhile police spent those decades taking notes and building effective ways to manage them. I remember in the 70s when police where being caught sending undercover agents into groups to the point they were undercover for long enough to form marriages and have kids. The top of a lot of groups were infiltrated by agents who encouraged protests because it meant they could arrest people and fuck their lives up killing any momentum. I think they’ve only gotten better while the protesters have been stagnate if not gotten much worse at fighting for their cause.

I’d rather see people protesting send $20 each to some group who can higher a lobbyist. Protests aren’t doing much anymore.

Dunking on protestors “not being effective” is just the worse. It might be useless to you, but to many it is a useful launching point of some meaningful discussions.

The worst is seeing important causes lose traction and ground others fought for because some group decides they want to take action without properly being prepared and organized.

Just because you’re not prepared to talk about the protests in a way that gives traction to the issue doesn’t make the protestors wrong.

That these type of events are inevitable and one can prepare and organize to respond with solidarity that shapes the message in the way you think would be beneficial.
