Looks like they swapped headlines on you. Removed.

    Original headline:

“The WA GOP put it in writing that they’re not into democracy”

And seen by nobody at all. Letting critical facts quickly disappear into the ether while the neofascist movement repeats their same Big Lies over and over 50000x times is how the neofascist movement defeats democracy.

Doesn’t surprise me, considering that some of the dumbass pundits a while back argued that USA wasn’t a democracy, it was a republic.

The United States is one of the best examples of a democratic republic, it is absolutely both a democracy and a republic.

Eugene Volokh of the UCLA School of Law observes that the United States exemplifies the varied nature of a constitutional republic—a country where some decisions (often local) are made by direct democratic processes, while others (often federal) are made by democratically elected representatives

      https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democratic_republic

The lack of high school civics education in this country has done untold damage

North Korea is also a republic. So is Russia. So is Iran. So is China. So is Afghanistan. So was Nazi Germany. So that doesn’t mean anything.

Calling yourself something and actually meeting the generally agreed-on definition are different things.

Electing representatives does not make a republic, you have to actually give those elected representatives the ruling power too.

I mean, I can call myself a dentist, but if other people don’t also agree that I am a dentist, then you probably don’t want me doing your dental work. But if you pay me, maybe I’ll give it my best shot, you know.

Continue the line of thinking to thoroughly squash that argument.

Britain is a democracy. Which is the US more like, China or Britain?

They can’t support Democracy because they know they are a minority of a minority. In a true Democracy, they lose, repeatedly.

It’s nice to have it in writing though, so you can shove it in the face of anyone who tries to explain it away

If you don’t want democracy … stop participating in democratic processes and government then.

If you think you are something else, go do it somewhere else

Nah, they’re a bit smarter than that. If they want a change to the system, they play the existing system until they can change and warp it into their desired state. Maybe a lesson we could learn from given how successful it has been?

“We encourage Republicans to substitute the words ‘republic’ and ‘republicanism’ where previously they have used the word ‘democracy,’ ” the resolution says. “Every time the word ‘democracy’ is used favorably it serves to promote the principles of the Democratic Party, the principles of which we ardently oppose.”

These people are severely uneducated. Democratic does not mean “of democrats of having likeness to democrats”. And these fucken apes think they are the pinnacle of American intellectualism.

Now this begs the question; Can anybody run an antidemocratic platform with the purpose of changing our government at its core to something else? At one point does this freedom transform into treason? When it would alienate the majority’s rights?

There has to be a line somewhere. I dont think anyone in working class America truly wants to live in an Autocracy, even if they might think so. At what point does this become manipulation with the intent of overthrowing the government?

Because as of now, it looks like I can campaign under “King Sanctus” with a platform of returning to a monarchy and that would not be illegal in anyway.

      These people are severely uneducated.

Nobody is really stupid enough to think that the word “democracy” is a value of the Democratic Party instead of one of the core values of all loyal Americans. Its a crude dog whistle to neofascists who despise American values.

At what point does this become manipulation with the intent of overthrowing the government?

We passed that point a long way back.

Thats not what I meant. I mean at what point do our institutions that were designed to prevent this actually take action? Because this shit doesn’t work by fairy dust and dreams. It works because people believe in it and enforce it. If it is so obvious the common folk of the land can see it. Why can’t anyone with authority put a stop to this madness? Especially when the dog whistles stop being whistles for dogs and turn into words for humans.

Don’t editorialize headlines - you removed the WA and made the headline imply it was the national GOP.

Is this still a really important subject? Absolutely, but that was a shitty move.

imply it was the national GOP.

WTF absolutely nobody thinks that the GOP has already held its national party convention for 2024. But I guess I could have said “GOP party convention in Washington”.
