Why doesn’t the press call him out on his drill and energy lies to his face? We are the world’s biggest oil producer. Period. He isn’t going to maximize anything.

Picking an arbitrary group to hate has strong short term returns but generally ends up in total disaster and collapse. You’d think history would make this clear.

But man are humans fixated on short term gains.

I want to see this thing taken to its logical extreme. Like that war was once on the entire queer community, now they’re largely targeting trans people because the acceptance of gay men and lesbians is so widespread, pretty soon we’re going to have sitting members of congress calling for the death penalty of People Who’s Favorite Color Is Puce. We have to save the children from the evil Pucer agenda.

Yeah don’t campaign for or against us. Neither works. Try campaigning for or against oil, more Americans have experienced a heat wave than one of us

Seriously, I have only met like five trans people in my entire life. None of them have been a burden on me in any way. People should vote on issues that actually affect their own lives.

Same. I just don’t get how even the most rabid redhat thinks that punching down on trans is going to help them to find healthcare, put food on the table, put their kids through school, etc…

They effectively lost the culture war on Teh Gheyz and have moved onto trans. It seems as if in most rural areas, that would basically be about bashing on either no one, maybe one specific person, or at most a handful of people. And the qons seem to be making this a central thing…well, that, and the migrant caravans. How the hell is this even remotely a serious policy?

Their only policy is that you should live in fear and only they can save you. Sometimes I long for the predictable fuckery of the 80s and 90s, when the Monopoly man hung out with the Jesus freaks, but even then they were demonizing LGBT people and claiming Democrats will ruin America, it’s their only card.

Yeah, like honestly the winning move is to mention us on the side at queer events. We’re common enough that losing or gaining us can be significant especially in a primary, but what we’re asking for isn’t huge and if isn’t something so important to the average voter.

My state didn’t have a winter last year and more and more rust keeps accumulating on our belt, maybe focus on talking about how you’re gonna bring Ohioans Union jobs and snow.

maybe campaigning for trans people won’t be a huge draw, because unlike transphobes most people don’t even have trans on the mind… but i think walz’s “mind your own damn business” does work. it’s such a great line that works for trans rights as well as reproductive rights.

Oh absolutely, I think that’s really the sweet spot. When you say it’s about trans people a lot of people don’t care, but when you say it’s about your right to deal with your own healthcare without government interference people really like that

They’re really banking on America really caring about if someone is gay or trans huh. Bold move. The only people who give a shit are the weirdo wannabe christians and fox “news” watchers. I’m more into having a good human in office rather than an old orange racist rapist with 34 felonies and dementia. The republikkklowns have nothing they can do besides attack their opponent and with Harris and Walz, that’s a losing strategy. VOTE!!! Volunteer to give rides to those that couldn’t vote without it.

Yes, they’re banking on roughly half of American voters. Terrifying, isn’t it? E.g., “A majority of respondents to a Washington Post-Kaiser Family Foundation poll say gender is determined at birth and support restrictions on health care and sports participation.”

That’s not half of voters, that’s half of people who respond to polls about gender opinions. Specific polls are twrrible ways to gauge general trends.

Sure they might have threads accounts but I haven’t seen either of them directly involved with the rest of the fediverse. So I’d hardly say ‘heavy into’

Sure, don. I can see it. It’s like they’re on some sort of trans mission. It’s automatic for them. But as soon as they’re in a clutch, their priorities will shift. they’ll change gears and reverse their position.

                  It’s complex…

The original short ‘Scavengers’ caught my attention and was beautiful and had interesting flora and fauna design, and I mostly enjoyed it.

                  BUT

The steps taken during the short felt like a poorly contrived Rube Goldberg machine of individual segments of brilliant and interesting interactions that were kind of shoehorned into each other as more of a portfolio of the art style and a bunch of separate interesting vignettes than it did tell a narrative about an actual functional ecosystem.

The alien biological interactions were rooted more in the purpose of showing off art style, as species that relied on the interactions that the humans ‘goaded’ them through would have gone extinct long before human’s arrival and I literally see no natural mechanism in universe that could replace 80% of it.

I know it’s such a minor deal to most people but the fact that the ecosystem is so mechanically unbelievable makes it near impossible to fully like the short.

And I don’t want to take the time risk to find out the same thing with the series. I really do appreciate the recommendation but I don’t understand why my pique doesn’t bother more people. Especially biologists…

I watched some of this press conference. I didn’t see Trump as completely out of it. But he did seem tired. He said the same exact shit but with no energy or conviction.

Trump is committing the cardinal sin of television coverage. He’s boring.

I think it safe to say they are WAY heavier into “the transgender world” than the republicans or centrists.

I dunno, before the porn ban red states topped the charts for trans porn searches, sounds like a bunch of them are ‘heavy’ into the transgender world but being repressed by generations of arbitrary moral strictures has caused them to self-reject and encyst this desire into a malignant knot of unresolved hate-fuck obsession.

Basically: We wouldn’t have fascism in America right now if 3000 years ago some goatherder high on the local shrooms wasn’t homophobic.
