    Huh. Well, cops stories in these events are always fluid — probably both versions are “the official version” of what happened, or have been.

      Except the first (the fact that the shot was fired during a fight) is based on video footage. The second (that the suspect was down on the ground) is.how the prosecutor explained it. I assume the ex-officer knows the first rule of what to do after you are arrested: shut up and let your lawyer speak on your behalf.
