I’ve been messing around with different starting combinations using mods in Oxygen Not Included and typically start with one researcher and digger/builder but can never settle on the 3rd. Any one have any favorite combinations?

    I also start with one researcher and one digger. The third dupe kinda depends on the asteroid and what I want to focus on.

    1. A supply/operate dupe that can be skilled towards mechatronics engineering. I typically reach the stage where I want to automate stuff with transport rails before the first dupes even have enough skillpoints to become a mechatronics engineer, so I like to start them as early as possible.
    2. A second digger if I want to rip through the map and explore faster
    3. Maybe a highly skilled rancher. It used to be (and maybe still is?) the case that leveling the ranching skill is very difficult. So if I know I’m gonna do a lot of ranching, I pick one of those.

    I tend to go with:

    • Researcher. You need to build out the tech tree starting early-on.

    • Digger. You want to unlock harder-mineral areas starting early-on.

    • Rancher+Farmer. Not critical to the early game, but because the combination is hard to get and Rancher requires a level of Farmer, best to get it at the start when you can pick your dupe interests.
