Not just a win, but a very dominant one. I never once felt worried and I figured once Martinelli scored (called back) we showed it was more a matter of when, not if.

Eh, based on that game I feel like they could tbh, they looked quite decent. Just need to actually score goals when they play weaker teams.

Gotta say I really thought Raya was excellent. He was a great choice for today. He was composed, owned his box, and distributed very well. He was also confident to come out and was an active part of our build up in the back.

I gotta give Arteta and the team credit. Our boogeyman teams used to haunt us and those dropped points would always hold us back, but now we have the belief and the ability to overcome those obstacles and take the 3 points.

“For all the talk about Arsenal starting the season poorly they are now one point better off from the same 5 fixtures last season”

Agree, but we’ve lost our goal-scoring prowess I can’t lie

Those goals are going to count later… But I’m just hoping the usual suspects start dropping off like flies

Given how much Trossard played today, wonder what our lineup will be against PSV. I could see us doing ESR on the wing just to let him rest up

Like a front 5 of ESR-Havertz-Jesus-Vieira-Nelson seems fine, then swap out Vieira for Trossard or smth later and shift ESR to RCM

It took a bit too long to finally break through for my liking…but it was definitely coming. Everton did stay quite disciplined, which made it harder to break down that bloody block. They seem to have almost no threat in attack. I hope Martinelli is OK…wearing my Martinelli 11 shirt for luck as an homage, today.

Agreed. They barely even had a chance, we just needed to score one. Much better than we usually do against those types of counterattacking teams tbh.

VAR is dependent on people watching it, and the people who are filming. the view on the offside was horrid, meaning it is possible that another person who might have gotten that view was focused on something else with their camera.

    Good win. Patient and purposeful.

Everton fans know they are in deep deep shit this season when we are beating them at Goodison. Given their squad, their form, and their resources, I don’t see how they can stay up.

I don’t understand why Martinelli’s goal was ruled offside. Nketiah was in an offside position on the right when the pass was made out to Martinelli’s on the left, but he wasn’t interfering with play throughout the entire process. Have they changed the rules again?

Edit: oh I see how. Eddie was outside before he flicked the ball back to Vieira who then threaded it through you Martinelli.

It was the play before the ball was played out to Martinelli. Gabriel’s pass was deflected by an Everton player which ended up to Nketiah but he was offside when Gabriel played the ball.

And just to add to this, no, Beto did not cancel out the offside. The rules are that you have to deliberately play the ball, which in the rules imply control. Having the ball whacked into you like it was for him is not control.
