supports bridges, by convincing people to use matrix, you are not fragmenting communities into the X amount of people that use matrix. You have the ability to bridge to discord/IRC/telegram/whatsapp/signal/xmpp and many others, meaning u can extend your community rather than shrink it, or close it off to the people using that specific platform.

federated, non volatile to high demand if the main instance gets overloaded with users, or if it shuts down

has significant financial backing, to make development stable

has dozens of third party clients (cinny is the best webui IMO, and fluffychat’s a good linux/mobile app, also mirage/gotktrix/fractal/schildichat/nekochat etc), so if you dislike the UI of the official element, you can switch to those and still use matrix.
Im not usually the type to shun new alternatives, but in the case of a messenger, if it doesn’t support bridging at the bare minimum its just creating inconvenience, since you have to use revolt in order to access the community. Just use established solutions like matrix, rather than making new alternatives.
What does it bring that’s new to the table, that couldn’t have been achieved with a custom client for matrix maybe? I.e using the established matrix backend and applying whatever fancy ui you want on top of it.

Revolt is fairly young in comparison to Matrix. A lot of features including E2EE will be implemented in the future. Also, Revolt actually does have bridges and an ecosystem of WIP third-party clients as well.

Matrix’s Code of Conduct says that they will not act on CoC violations that they find ideologically congenial. That’s a blank check for harassment, and it applies to every forum which might be used for technical coordination around Matrix.

Is this decentralised tho? Because that’s the only thing that matters, as long as it’s server based they can become like Reddit. I am not returning to centralised medias and messengers lol
Revolt is not fedi. You can host your own server but you’ll need a seperate build of their client to communicate to that server and seperate accounts
Benefits over discord? I use discord to video chat with my out of town buddies. That’s about it. What are some reasons I should switch? This isn’t a loaded question btw, I’ve been a fan of FOSS and a free and open internet since I was a kid in the 90s. Grew up on anarchist punk and all. I’m just asking because I gotta convince the suits it’s better.
