The threshold for claiming disability/sickness benefits is very low in the UK. My dad has been claiming disability for over a decade now, but there are plenty of jobs he could’ve done in that time and I wouldn’t cnsider him disabled. He’s just been out of work so long that he’s become a social pariah. Once you’re out of work long enough they basically write you off and class you as being long term sick rather than a job seeker.

Compared to comparable countries the UK is very bad for this. The reason they keep it up is because it makes the government look better if there are only 100,000 people who should be in work (According to Jeremy Hunt) rather than millions which is the true figure.

The funny thing is that in pretty much every country there are people saying exactly what you are saying (“our country is worse in this compared to others”). And none I’ve ever talked to have shown evidence for their claims, they always say “we all know it’s true”.

But this discussion has run its course. As always, there is no evidence, no facts, no data - only feelings and beliefs.

You didn’t win the argument just due to the technicality that without mind reading equipment it’s impossible to know who is cheating the system. But hide behind your warped statistics, most people in this country know the truth and don’t hide in leftist circle jerks because it’s the only place their minority opinions are accepted

I literally linked an article showing how the UK is struggling with this issue.

P.S. sometimes the data doesn’t exist, but that doesn’t make something not true. The government and DWP have many incentives to fudge the data.

PIP is not awarded due to diagnoses, but rather self assessment criteria. People lie on their forms every single day and exaggerate their symptoms.

The DWP is not fit for purpose, they don’t perform their assessments correctly and it’s hardly something they’re going to admit to. Stay blind to the issue if you like but we have some deep rooted problems when it comes to work. Many people who are feeling sorry for themselves when they should be participating in society.

I’m 99% certain you’ve never even interacted with someone on benefits or visited a job centre.
