Hi all. I have fixed about 25 different issues with fedia.io in the past 24 hours. There are a few lingering issues like missing images, but I’m working on those. Please let me know if you are continuing to see problems or see new problems so I can work with the most excellent mbin team to get them resolved.
As always, thanks for your patience.
Thanks Jerry!
I’ve found that when submitting a new
image (“photo”)anything, instead of the expected behaviour of loading that magazine afterwards, I get a blank white page instead (with the URL of submitting a photo to that magazine).Edit: seems to be applying to other submission types as well.
this might be https://github.com/MbinOrg/mbin/issues/35
it was fixed in the docs but requires manual change by instance owners that were affected, which this instance appears to be. tl;dr the docs recommended the nginx config
add_header Referrer-Policy "no-referrer" always;
which broke the style of redirects that were being used, it’s now been changed to recommendadd_header Referrer-Policy "same-origin" always;
edit: I promise I can read… Your description is slightly different, so it might not be this, but still worth trying it out to see if it helps
Thank you. I will implement this fix in the morning
Interestingly the first time I tried to vote on your comment it redirected me to a 500 error page. When I came back it reports the upvote was successful though, which is interesting!
I noticed the same behaviour from your comment in one of the previous fedia-meta threads https://fedia.io/m/fedia/t/349909/-/comment/2070736
I guess the instance personally hates you :'D
ok - implemented this change.
Thank you Jerry! One of the things I noticed is Account Deletion is giving 500 error
ok. I will take a look. do you want to delete your account? I can do it for you if so
Seconded
Just to be clear, you want your account deleted?
Yes, please.
I found that subscribing to @beehaw.org magazines lead to a 500 page (though the subscription does go through).
Something really small I noticed: the about page still lists “This is a general interest kbin instance.” and maybe should be changed to mbin ;)As someone migrating over from kbin this instance looks really clean and well taken care of, great work!
Thank you - I will fix the kbin reference and see what is up with beehaw
I seem to be having trouble federating out to programming.dev :(
That is very weird, their
/instances
page sayskbin
still… I wonder if they stopped federating / it got marked as an inactive instance by mistake? lemmy.world for instance shows fedia as mbin… I’m not quite sure what this means but they clearly haven’t gotten node info in a whileIt looks like their instance is having some issues https://programming.dev/post/4308156 granted that says outbound but I just joined their matrix and there are other issues being discussed as well, I might wait on this to see if it’s still happening once things get more sorted
edit: i posted in their matrix support channel to see if they noticed anything odd as well 🤞
Hah, I hadn’t considered that it might be a problem on the other end, thanks for taking a look!
I just got a 500 error when trying to post a link to https://fedia.io/m/unanswered then I retried. Got another error 500. Then I later discovered that the post was actually successful (in fact two copies of the same msg were posted). So I deleted the dupe.
When a user sees error 500 and they give up, they expect and assume the whole transaction has failed. I could have just as well reattempted 10 times, given up, meanwhile visitors think I’m attacking the mag.
There are still some bugs hiding that we are trying to track down. If you find any more like this, please let me know
I haven’t had problems searching things before and was taking a bit of a break from doomscrolling even before the mbin switch, but searching “ontario doctor/s” or “ontario doctorate” would take me to a 500 server error. Other combinations like “ontario dr”, “pickering doctor”, “post doctorate”, “ontario london”, had no issues. Error could not be replicated on neither a kbin (ernest’s flagship) nor mbin (melroy) instance, and issues for the mbin repo weren’t related to search afaict
Using compact view and all other threads settings disabled so probably doesn’t have anything to do with loading media.
It seems impossible to see user profiles from the libranet.de Friendica instance, i.e:
@fu@libranet.de
@petrescatraian@libranet.de
Thanks for the report. I will see what I can find.
Minor problem: there’s a new feature of 2fa, but at least for me, going to https://fedia.io/settings/2fa to set it up shows a broken qr code. looks like it’s returning an nginx 404 at the moment
