Ok, what I would like is to be able to access Kali from my server, but inside and outside my network.
I also do not want to use VNC.
Should I do a Kasm container? A VM instance?
Any suggestions or best practices?

Best practice example would be a Kali VM on a testing vlan for playing all the Kali specific stuff.
I wouldn‘t. End of story.
Install Proxmox on the host, then Kali and Truenas as VM’s under it. Tailscale or Zerotier to create a vpn to access it securely remotely.
Why would I use ProxMox as the host when I’m hosting with TrueNas Scale?
