I didn’t really read the article, but the title is accurate.
His lawyers are expecting to actually get paid like they are special or something. That is what I find funny.
They’ve all started taking payment up front.
Maybe they’ll get sanctioned like the last ones and end up on trial like many other ones. Being a Trump attorney is a hazardous profession.
Very well written article. Seems like kind of a rarity these days. What a treat

Lastly, Trump argues that he can’t be prosecuted because of “double jeopardy,” the Fifth Amendment rule that no person can be prosecuted for the same crime twice. Trump argues that his second impeachment hearing was when he was first put in jeopardy over January 6, so all subsequent prosecutions for his attempt to overturn the election should be dismissed.
This is my favorite. Totally admitting guilt, but maintaining since he wasn’t punished by congress he can’t be punished by a criminal court. It’s honestly beautiful in its distilled coked out bullshit idiocy.
This isn’t even a Nixon situation where he’s throwing shit he knows to be false at the wall in hopes it sticks. This is Trump literally not understanding the difference between Executive Branch policy enforcement and Judicial Branch civil/criminal proceedings.
HOW THE FUCK DOES THIS MAN EXIST?
Fucking brown-nosing enablers and people that are smarter than him using him as a tool, that’s how.
Okay.
Impeachment proceedings, for one, are not a criminal trial. They are hearings through which the House determines whether an office-holder should be impeached, and if so, the impeachment is heard and voted on in the Senate. The Senate can neither fine nor imprison someone under impeachment; the most they can do is eject that person from the office they hold.
There are three main criminal jurisdictions: Federal, State, Military. You can be charged, tried, convicted, and sentenced for the same criminal actions in every one of those jurisdictions. That doesn’t really matter with Trump, et al. They have performed so many criminal acts that Trump, for example, is charged in both Georgia and the DC Circuit for what is colloquially “the same thing,” but the legal charges are different ones.
That’s the risk you run when you’re at the “we’ve stopped counting” number of crimes.
