During the same interview, Musk also joked about the similarities between the words Hamas and hummus.

In some ways, the worst thing about him is his so-called sense of humor.

It’s really weird reading about the “importance” and “impact” of twitter outside of america. I have never heard anyone talk about X, nor do i know anyone using it. I dated a girl once 6 years ago who would talk about twitter sometimes, that’s pretty much it.

Hundreds of millions of people use it, including journalists.

Those same people use Dell keyboards and Samsung phones, for example, to make their posts. If twitter disappears, they post elsewhere. It’s a tool, not a self sufficient producer of content.

It directs content to be in a certain format. That format skews towards screechy arguments with little context or nuance.

And not a lot of hundreds of millions. 400 at the peak of its popularity. Which puts it waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down in terms of actual popularity in the social media sphere.

It’s specific, and the data you want to look at is buried. You might think the US is the largest user of twitter because we have the most registered users. In reality, we are barely top 10.

Currently, Saudi Arabia tweets the most. Whenever you see numbers, they talk about the amount of users by country. That number is meaningless. It doesn’t tell you who actually uses the product.

10% of the users generate 90% of the content on the site, and the Saudis do the most tweeting. Where does Elon get a huge chunk of his money from, who is Elon constantly schmoozing, the Saudis.

Elon feeds Joe Rogan things cause he knows that’s how you get them into the cultural zeitgeist he likes. He knows Rogan isn’t smart or prepared to push back, and he knows if someone throws the truth of the manipulation in Rogan’s face, he has a 99% chance of still defending Elon.

Joe has a long history of being close friends with terrible people while giving advice about staying away from shitty people, it’s wild!
