      Flipping burgers certainly takes more skill than packing boxes in 99% of circumstances.

        Depending on the store, they don’t even flip the burgers. I worked for the clown in the 00s, and they had clamshell grills, so all we did was throw the meat on and wait for the clam to open. Assembly and wrapping were much more skill heavy tasks.

      For some reason kitchen work is the go-to for “these people deserve to be paid less!!”. A related boomer trope is that people who work in fast food are “high school kids”, which might have been true in Lubbock, TX or whatever in 1972, but certainly isn’t now.
