Considering Shine and A Beautiful Mind both were (highly inaccurate) biopics of living people and both won Oscars, I’d say it works out if you do it right.
What’s the point of making a biopic if the guy’s still alive? You can’t make a movie about someone’s entire life if he hasn’t lived his entire life
There’s plenty of people with an interesting personal history that are still alive. Musk is not one of those people.

Because the story told in the biopic wouldn’t have any conclusion
Do all biopics end in death? Is it a prerequisite? Because like, lots of them definitely don’t end in death.
Those that don’t end in the main character’s old age, when nothing of interest usually happens. That’s why there are good biopics about living people

Elon musk is still quite active, enough to render any biopic obsolete
I’m hopeful that he’s lived out most of his life by this point.
