What’s unfortunate is someone might feel bad and they will be given support (some of the time, other times chastised for their naïveté) while people connected to the affected are justifiably and rationally furious. The latter, whose likely material conditions are poor are verbally abused and their sentiments invalidated. Further justifying contempt and separation from the powers who allowed and did rectify the atrocious conduct.

As a result communities may become insular, which is a tragedy. Whatever cooperation or solidarity might have been possible withers away prematurely. And pointing any of this out to one of the majority never seems to be taken seriously. They don’t have evidence on their side, only convenient sentiments which happen to aid them in their interests. It makes me question my sanity as at times I cannot tell if I am even in the same reality as others.
