I looked into it a while ago, and I remember being unimpressed with the so-called end-to-end encryption. If it is as I recall, the encryption happens on his servers, which makes it not E2EE at all, but rather an amateurishly implemented form of encryption at rest.

His code boasts a lot of jQuery libraries, for some reason. One jQuery library is a red flag. His project boasts six, and one of them is from 2013.

Here is the encryption and decryption functionality, which to my dizzy eyes, don’t look like they contain forward secrecy… But I haven’t downloaded the project to look particularly closely.

It’s a scam. He clearly has no web development knowledge, the website is very little effort, no maintenance or expansion of the site, and he is not technical at all. When was there any changes to the website brax.me and what changes were they?

To me knowledge, he has never shot a single instructional video. What he says is a mix of what he reads and his opinion, but he has never done a video showing how to do anything shawcasing his skill.

Looking at brax.me, I suspect he is targeting people who only know how to turn on a cell phone and know nothing more than that so that can’t find fault with anything he says and hopefully be amazed by his ramblings.

He is only about getting free money, he has no skills to teach and educate others how to do. He charges for services that others give for free. Such as the 4GB storage limit, multple Nextcloud sites provide free 10GB storage. He’s trying to make money without working.

I’ve looked at his web development a little bit. He doesn’t have zero knowledge, but he has… Not nearly enough.

And certainly not enough to trust him to sell me a phone, mostly because they look like white label Umidigi ones straight from the factory, which have never been audited, but have been spotted for sale by everybody from Simple Mobile Tools to FreedomPhone.

If you want a phone, buy a used Pixel, and flash GrapheneOS on it within about 15 minutes. All you do is connect Pixel to computer and use a web browser on computer for Graphene website to flash onto phone. There is no rooting of phone involved.

Without even getting to the technical issues….if you build a “fully operation” social platform, shouldn’t you host your blog on your shiny wonderful service that you’re promoting, instead of Medium?

That should raise an alarm without even knowing what the word encryption means.

I consider Brax one of the major internet privacy info outlets(don’t hate me). I listen to his live streams but I don’t buy or use his stuff.

As cringe is the phrase is, I would definitely advise you to “do your own research”* before seriously implementing anything he is recommended. I’ve watched a couple of his videos, and the stuff I knew seemed to be correct, but his willingness to promote a totally random social network is just… Odd.

*E.g. do a DuckDuckGo search, and if nothing substantial pops up, ask 😊

Its his website so of course he will plug it in, together with his degoogled phones. But he plugs in also calyx, eos etc when he has his own os, which I really like, not to be pushing just his own stuff but the whole community.

I don’t buy stuff from Youtubers. If they had a real business, they wouldn’t spend most of their time making Youtube videos.
