Like Black Mesa, it’s one of the best shooters I’ve ever played, 8/10. After I post this, I’m going to play Episode 1

Yesterday I played Half Life: Uplink, it’s the first demo for HL where it was still in a rougher state, and it was pretty good, at the time I would have had my mind blown by that.

Half-Life was absurdly revolutionary when it was released. The gunplay, physics, graphics, enemy interactions, weapons and so on blew everything else out of the water by a mile. Valve was definitely an industry leader in its early days.

I wish I could go back in time and never play the episodes. The story will never be finished, we got 2/3rds of another installment and they cut it right at a massive climax. I can’t think of a worse cliffhanger in all of media

I could never really get into half life 2 because the boat section made me incredibly motion sick 🤢 , played the first game tho, it was pretty good expect for xen.

I personally enjoyed it but most people seem to think the boat section is one of the weaker parts of the game. It’s very worth it to just skip that section and continue on with the game. All you need to know is you follow a bunch of waterways getting harassed by a helicopter and then you blow up the helicopter and reach Black Mesa East. There’s a section later with a car that’s very good so it may be worth it to try adjusting FOV/sitting further away/etc. for that sequence if you can, but you could also do most of the good parts on foot and noclip through the parts that need the car. You step out of the vehicle frequently anyway, and there’s less weird jumps and shit, so it may be more bearable though.
