People forget what kind of a dictatorship UAE is. Just because they westernised from outside and allow some lax laws to the outsiders people think Dubai/uae as a whole is a great place.

The AskToronto sub keeps getting the occasional “I think should move to Dubai” thread. Yet to hear anyone who’s made the move and not regret it.
Isn’t it the opposite? It shows that it isn’t. Nobody here thinks better of UAE or SA because of football. In fact, it’s help bring to light stuff like this. No one here would have known of Mansoor and Al-Najjar’s plight otherwise.
Sports washing mostly works only one way, from the west to the third world. It only draws criticism and hate, when the converse happens.
People whom I know and support city loves the Abu Dhabi group and infact supports them. Most of them are indifferent to the owners.
