God I wish this was true. Putin won’t even allow Syria to use the s300s that are already there. For all the noise about him being a belligerent psychopath, he probably still pines to join the west.
This is why I’ve always found the whole hoping for a regime change in Russia so hilarious. Putin is basically a moderate in Russian politics, and it’s pretty much guaranteed that whoever replaces him is going to be a lot more hardline towards the west. If they think Putin is difficult, just wait till they have to deal with somebody like Kadyrov.
Kadyrov won’t get the job , there are 2 reasons 1. He has become more corrupt his son was awarded tons of medals for beating a man who burned Koran. 2. Kadyrov has immense Islamic mentality not a secular one . He regularly badmouths Stalin because Stalin deported Chechens to Kazakhstan for joining Hitler (but he won’t say that ). Ordinary Russians know the full story of Chechens and they are quite upset with kadyrov who said Stalin was a traitor. Putin criticizes Stalin and Bolsheviks but he even won’t say Stalin was a traitor or evil incarnate.
Oh yeah, I don’t think Kadyrov himself is a likely candidate, I’m saying somebody with a similar mindset could easily get in power.
Right now Putin is the best candidate for Russia. I don’t think anyone in the KPRF Or UR has the capacity to run Russia. Maybe that Mishtushin Or whatever.

As you frequently post about geopolitics, I have a question regarding Palestine. Why did USSR choose to support Israel in 1948 ?.. Is it because to counter the arab countries who were siding with the British? It feels weird how Stalin who fought Nazis gave affirmation to a whole nazi project in Palestine.
Honestly don’t know the actual logic was there. Stalin did do a lot of questionable shit after the war though like abandoning Greece, which led to his falling out with Tito and breakdown of relations with Yugoslavia. Seems like he was really keen on honoring whatever deals he mad with the west at the end of the war for whatever reason.
I’ve read somewhere that the USSR supported the zionist entity because they felt it was a form of decolonisation, ending the British occupation is Palestine. Also, back then zionism had some superficially leftist tendencies and there was a widespread belief on the left that the zionist entity would become a “socialist” society.

On S300 , Putin doesn’t want a full on confrontation against US in Syria. Turkey also downed one Russian aircraft but Putin was too careful not to engage with Turkish jets which ultimately helped Assad government to get a strong foothold in Aleppo and in other regions.
I heard so many speeches from Putin , none where he said about attacking NATO and others instead MOFA warned the west about their involvement in attacks against Russia . Ukr sent drones on Kremlin and US sponsored the attacks on Crimea and a nuclear airfield inside Russia.
Pretty much every claim the west makes about Putin and Russian policy has no substance behind it. Yammering about Russia threatening to use nukes is another great example of this.

Just earlier today, I saw chuds from my country (Scandinavian NATO country) arguing that we should ignore what’s happening in Palestine as it “doesn’t concern us” while the Ukraine war should get more attention, because “Putin is an actual existential threat to us”. Fucking nuts, but the propaganda this last two years has been strong.
Going by the logic of the post, If Putin is scared of attacking NATO countries why would he do so after winning Ukraine? So he’s both afraid and unafraid of NATO? I don’t get it.
