Why can’t I have a plain solid black case and no lighting? I don’t need to see inside and I think all the lights look terrible.

We have a bunch of torrent compacts at work and they’re honestly great cases too. Also very good at keeping high end parts cool at a low noise level.

I’ve always been a fan of closed Fractal cases. They do no-non sense right.

Quite agree. It is next to impossible to find solid cases any more, because only transparent ones are sold. The one manufacturer left still making solid cases seems to be Fractal Design.

They were all that I could find that I would call a quality case. I went with the Define R5.

The blue leds make the whole setup run cooler. And if you want a really fast build, get an aerodynamic case with a racing stripe.

But seriously, hard agree. I want a big, easy to open easy to access, metal box. With handles if it’s possible I’ll be using it for gigs etc.

Because rgb is popular. There are a bunch of standard cases but case makers need tk cater to what most people want because case manufacturing doesnt have the greatest margins due to size and cost of shipping.

A lot of the margins come from fans and lighting.

It’s the style right now. Personally, I’m hoping for a “retro beige case that can hold modern hardware” era because I have terrible taste.

The Fractal Design 7 line has some all covered cases.

It’s just the trend de jure for computer case designs. I also have no desire to show off the parts inside my case and think the rainbow LEDs are a bit much. If I’m gonna throw a rave at home, I ain’t gonna light it with my GPU.

When I put my new machine together not too long ago I actually went with the Define R5. The only part I couldn’t get away from LEDs completely was the MB. I don’t think I could find the solid Define7 at the time.

Because some of us like the pretty lights, they’re cheap to include and the people that don’t like them can always turn them off

Cause we are all just a few days away from becoming catboys in stockings on Linux machines. Give in to the RGB side and join us meow

No. I’m already on mint, and I’m commenting from a furry instance. How much credit do I get?

I like the way you think, but then you probably have to deal with $erver components.

Stupid fads, sometimes customers are to blame, other times companies (SUVs plague, touch screens on cars, smarphone screen notches and removed conectors…).

And even worse than RGB everywhere… glass panels. Yes, of course, put something heavy and fragile on my already heavy PC. And a glass panel is an accident waiting to happen.

This is the case I wanted for a build a decade ago: https://www.quickhard.com/fotos/Caja-ANTEC-NINE-HUNDRED-EU-Negra-foto3.jpg

I finally ended up with this one earlier this year: https://en.sharkoon.com/product/37933

No glass. No included or purchased fan for the build has leds. However, I have to admit that I recycled a couple of old transparent fans with blue leds (14mm and 12mm) that were the best ones I had lying around, and they are installed behind the frontal dush mesh… which is behind the front grill panel.
