I like to imagine at least one of these remaining ships probably doesn’t even exist and is just a big embezzlement. It would be par for the course with Russia.
Everybody edging, waiting for the kep
Youtuber Perun joked this week that the Houthis had done more to disrupt international shipping than the Russians had done in the Black Sea.
Perun has some serious deadpan humor.
What’s the story behind the one circled ship? Captured?
I think it’s this one. Attacked twice, probably partially sunk in port.
The insert b&w photo is of another ship sunk a couple of days ago by drone boats, with great footage (https://sopuli.xyz/post/8635610). It’s the small one in the row above the circled ship.
which one just happened a day or so ago? the letters are tiny, so relying on someone who knows their ships!
The small “Ivanovets” in the center, the row above the circled one, I believe: https://sopuli.xyz/post/8635610.
Well, they said it was a corvette, so most likely the one ~7 down and 3 in. It seems like it’s the right profile
I wonder when ol’ Kuznetsov will meet its fate? Thing can hardly sail as is. Even if Ukraine doesn’t take it out, the ship’ll probably do the job itself.
Ok, next, B1.
What is that? Looks like the biggest remaining ship.
Ukraine is the last opponent I would want to have in a game of Battleships
I think I’mma print this one out for my bulletin board so I can keep score at home…
Legit fun idea.
Sink em all
Still can’t believe they sunk a fucking DDG with an MLRS lmfao
Link?
With no fleet left they don’t need the black sea ports anymore and can get the fuck out of Crimea, right?
So wait, is that the entire Russian fleet?
I would have thought they had more.
It is black sea fleet
Their ship-to-submarine conversion program is so far a great success.
Lately they have decided to allocate a larger share of their fleet to protect the sea bed
By the size of the chart I think it’s the black sea fleet and they can’t bring any warships through the Bosporus during war time.
These things strike me as very… expensive.
Boats are expensive. I know because I was a sailor, and then worked in ship building/repair.
And not easily replaced.
Irony a lot of these were built in Soviet Ukraine, so nice to see them laid to rest in their home 🥰
Yeah I’m pretty sure haven’t built a surface combatant larger than a frigate since the fall of the USSR.
They might have had a second aircraft carrier by now if they’d finished the one left in Ukraine at the collapse in 91. But for better or worse they sold the hulk (and the plans) to China in '99. It’s possible the Kuznetsov is in such a state because the sold the only copy of the plans
Months for a single boat if your logistics are top tier. Years otherwise.
For the tonnage crossed of this list, easily close to a decade to replace.
easily close to a decade to replace.
For a nation with the money and manpower to actually build them. Not ones that can only afford to upcycle 5 fossils each decade with a new gun/missile silo and (maybe) coat of paint.
Fair point.
Rust can be protective. There’s brown rust, orange rust, fast rust, slow rust. Wire wheels are expensive.
One rust two rust red rust blue rust
Anyway, like I was sayin’, rust is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sauté it. Dey’s uh, rust-kabobs, rust creole, rust gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There’s pineapple rust, lemon rust, coconut rust, pepper rust, rust soup, rust stew, rust salad, rust and potatoes, rust burger, rust sandwich. That- that’s about it.
