The Virginia House of Delegates approved an assault weapons ban on a party line vote Friday.

Fairfax County Democratic Del. Dan Helmer’s bill would end the sale and transfer of assault firearms manufactured after July 1, 2024. It also prohibits the sale of certain large capacity magazines.

“This bill would stop the sale of weapons similar to those I and many of the other veterans carried in Iraq and Afghanistan,” Helmer said.

Fair enough. But we could/should put a lot of restrictions on guns and put a lot of tax money into mental health and gun safety/gun awareness programs in the meanwhile. Because inequality/ poverty doesn’t look like it’s going to get fixed anytime soon or what so ever.

From what I’ve seen in US is we always go backwards; assault weapons ban lifted. Gun culture popularised. Many guns manufactured. We can’t have that without having basic human needs / rights issues fixed first. It’s just pouring gas on fire.

I agree to agree&disagree all at the same time ;P

Definitely love having these calm/peaceful/rational discussions about the topic that’s for sure. So; TY for the reply.
