I sought help in Michigan after I first moved here and ended up going to this mental health place provided by the state. They had a policy that if you missed one appointment, they threw out your case file and you had to start from scratch. I’ve been diagnosed with bipolar, anxiety disorder, and ADD. So that went about as good as you could imagine.

Why do they even have such a shitty policy? What benefit would it have? Bully people into coming in?

Policies made by people thinking neurodivergent just need the right incentive to be “normal”.

“Have you tried hard enough to be normal?” – The people who set up that system probably.

If I remember correctly their reasoning was it was to “Help the people that actually were motivated to get help.”

I am still suffering through most of my issues. (The anxiety not so much as I am on a high dose of benzos.) I have yet to find any good help since then and any mental health facility I’ve found since then that takes medicaid is booked up full. My bad state has driven most of the people out of my life and I have no “support system” left to speak of. (Which shies me away from attempting any anti-depressants because of the severe side effects.)

I had thought getting out of the south was going to be a benefit and I could actually get help, but it seems I am forever cursed to be the one who fell through the cracks.
