Is this specific to my client or instance? Tbh seeing “removed” (in italics) everywhere is one of the things that has annoyed me about using lemmy, and I’d turn it off if I knew how. Not that I’m in favor of slurs, I’d just like to be able to see what people are actually saying and judge them myself.

I use Boost for lemmy but I’m unsure if it’s your instance or not.
The slur filter is a per-instance setting.
It is instance-wide, set by admins.
I think it is a lemmy.ml setting, as I see the same, even when using a browser.
After a bit of googling I was able to confirm that it is indeed instance-based.
