I’m currently the sole admin of feddit.uk/c/goodnews. I created the community since I was pretty desperate for a community like this to exist here, but I feel pretty out of my depth moderating it.

I’ve never used Reddit, so I have little experience with websites like this and no experience with moderating on sites like this.

Good News UK has been presenting me with a lot of dialemmas regarding what content should be permittable to post, what rules there should be, how to manage “negative” comments, etc. I’ve tried to come to decisions regarding all these points but I feel a lot of self-doubt and uncertainty and it’s weighing on my mind.

In comparison, moderating the feddit.uk/c/nature community is much more straightforward for a novice like me.

I’m hoping to recruit some new moderators to help me with the community, or to take it over from me. I mostly just want to continue posting content on there, and to continue curating the best news from UK Nature and Environment to cross-post.

I wouldn’t overthink it, you are doing fine. Most of us are busking it.

However, it is a good idea to have two Mods on a community just for a bit of backup.

If you do want to consult other Mods about decisions or ask for help, jump on Matrix.
