Why do people say Game of Thrones is overrated? Because in the end, the body count was higher than the number of satisfying plot resolutions.

I liked GoT, but they butchered the later seasons, especially 8. In its prime, the show was great and I looked forward to every episode.

Plus no matter how popular it was back in its prime there was always a huge sect of people saying “yeah well it’s overrated”. The entirety of the internet has been shitting on popular things.

In fact I’d say saying things that are popular are overrated is the most popular opinion on the Internet.

Indeed, proclaiming “Şpopular_thing is overrated” tends to be a refrain so frequently echoed that it might as well be the unofficial motto of the Contrarian Club. It’s a curious societal waltz where today’s avant-garde criticism becomes tomorrow’s commonplace banter. The irony, of course, is in the critics’ unwitting membership in the very mainstream they aspire to challenge.

Ah, simply savoring the usual blend of societal contradictions, lightly seasoned with a pinch of DMT-inspired clarity. Perhaps it’s a bit rich for the everyday palate. But tell me, how’s the view from the mainstream plateau today? Still enjoying the same old vistas, I presume?

If you want to drop the act, you’re welcome to any time. :) Most of us did something cringe once. Sorry about whatever unfortunate thing is causing you to do this.

In our grand debate saga, we’ve journeyed from elephants to rocks, skimmed past elections, and tiptoed through ‘woke’ territories. Quite the expedition, wouldn’t you say? In the arena of ideas, it seems our ballots have cast differing votes. Still, amidst the wildlife and mineral debates, your stance remains a steadfast monument—impressive, if not immovable. Here’s to our rich tapestry of discourse, where every thread, no matter how frayed, contributes to the vibrant quilt of conversation. Keep weaving, my friend; your pattern is uniquely yours…

Not unpopular, this probably would have been an unpopular opinion in seasons 1–5/6~, but the last two seasons, maybe even last three seasons, saw a rapid drop in the quality of the series, as the showrunners flailed about and just could not write anything convincingly. The show dropped off the face of the Earth after the last season, they fucked the landing that much.

Here’s a truly unpopular opinion: the book series Game of Thrones is overrated. Up until part three, the series was fun. The pacing was good, the story was compelling and the climax of the third part (not giving away any spoilers…) was as good an ending as one could expect. Then part four started with an entirely new set of characters, totally ignoring the current story and disrupting the pace. After slogging through that part, the fifth part was utterly forgettable. If there is (or will be) a sixth part, I will skip it.
