So you’re going to vote for Trump in 2024 hoping he is enough of a disaster to get more dems elected in 2026, but not enough of a disaster to end democracy…
I would encourage you to consider voting for independent candidate. That way its more “I would vote for you if you weren’t a madman” rather than “I’m someone that doesn’t vote.”
I used to vote. If you vote for a third party, in my experience, the DNC is just going to go 😭 “SPOILER! We would have gotten all of that candidate’s voters if only ballot access were even more restrictive than it already is!” 😭 And post-Perot they’ve already rigged it water tight at the presidential level, so it’s futile, even if everyone wanted the third party to win. As long neither party in the duopoly collapses, those are the options for president.
If for no other reason go vote for the ballot initiatives. You don’t have to vote for a single candidate but the ballot initiatives are essentially direct democracy with tangible outcomes to your community. If you cant support that then you’re wasting your time even thinking about politics and letting all that negativity in your head.
lol- well your taxes still fund everything the US does. Your foot is still on the accelerator but you think the right answer to the trolley problem is ‘let Jesus take the wheel’.
But yeah, sounds like you in particular probably shouldn’t vote and let more rational people decide what death and destruction your taxes go towards ;)
“I’ll still be a citizen a but I won’t do the tiniest thing possible in the democracy that may move the needle a little bit because I want to feel righteous”
Yeah, people say that, but I felt awful when Obama murdered that 16yo Denver-born citizen with the drones the DNC had been crying crocodile tears about for 8 years, because I campaigned, donated, and voted for him. I didn’t vote for Biden in 2020 on the premise he’d do something unconscionable like he’s currently doing, and I think it was the right choice. Had Trump won in 2020, we’d almost be at his term limit. Now we get 4 more years of him anyway, but now he’s even angrier and even more of a messiah figure to his followers.
If Trump was president right now Ukraine would be gone and you’d be partially responsible for making that happen by not getting Biden to 270 electoral college votes.

I’m not going to vote, I’m not willing to be morally culpable for what either of these madmen does.
Yes u are.

Hope that makes sense, I’m tired

A spoiler vote isn’t any worse than a non-vote, but it does have the advantage of sending a message.

inaction is a valid and rational choice in the trolley problem
Yeah, people that care more about meaningless moral absolution than actual human lives can rationalize anything.
I’m not willing to kill people. I care about human lives.
Your taxes kill people.
yep.
Yep, and you just let it happen without even trying to mitigate- sad moral failure.
Remember how well the moralizing smugness worked out in 2016… yeah… keep pressing that button and see what result you get in November…
Cool- thanks again for letting me decide what your taxes pay for.
“I’ll still be a citizen a but I won’t do the tiniest thing possible in the democracy that may move the needle a little bit because I want to feel righteous”
Goddamn, these single-issue voters suck.
Well, inaction is also being complicit.
Does that mean if you vote for biden then you support genocide?

That’s some pretty wild mental gymnastics you got going on there.

Learn how fptp voting works,buddy.
the only people responsible for a candidate winning are the people who voted for them…a vote for any other candidate is a vote against Trump
Surely Biden is also somewhat responsible yes?
this can’t be proven
Except if you’re a moderate or a liberal.
