So, I feel like some prior context would help here. The most heated discussion—if you could call it that—I’ve had with a mod was from r/phcareers. It’s a local sub for careers. I had a positive experience contributing to the sub in the past with a post that received a lot of upvotes. However, when I tried to post again months later, my post was automatically removed for being below the character limit.

I was feeling particularly upset that day, so in frustration, I cussed out the AUTOMATED BOT. I reworked my post and posted again. It was automatically deleted again. Once more, I cussed out the BOT. Tried a third time. No luck. Gave up.

About some days later, they permanently banned me. They also lied that I was SITEWIDE banned, which just was not true. I wasn’t in the mood at all to deal with it, so I just replied “K.”

Now, months later, I had something important I needed to ask the sub. I messaged the mods again if they could undo the ban and frustratingly DESCRIBED whoever banned me as “powertripper.” They again got very frustrated that I was NAMECALLING and proceeded to mental gymnastics that any response to their AUTOMATED BOT is equivalent to saying TO THEM.

I argued that’s a stretch and it’s unfair to permanently ban me for such a simple thing. Literally no other ACTUAL USER have reported me. My high karma post had enjoyable discussions. I highlighted the only reason why I was banned was that THEY PERSONALLY FELT OFFENDED by my message towards AN AUTOMATED BOT.

I also requested proof that I was sitebanned. They claimed they made NO allegations and got so upset again that I’m frustrated and wanted me to explain “one last time” why I should be unbanned. I didn’t really feel comfortable discussing it further, especially their tone and attitude about the situation. I emailed Reddit for help and screenshots of our conversation but after no replies for 4-5 days, I gave up.

Then I started noticing all the other weird stuff going on with my account in different subs. Then everything else went on as described in my link above.

So, yeah, after the deletion, I’ve since created a new account under my personal email address (same email I used for the deleted account). All was fine. Until I made the mistake of posting in the same r/phcareers sub again. It was removed again automatically without any message. I just completely gave up with the sub and vowed never to touch it again. A few days later, I get a message that I’ve been permanently banned from REDDIT ENTIRELY for ban evasion because the r/phcareers mod found my presence.

Fine! I get that on a logical level, but the main reason I was banned in that sub still appears absolutely bonkers to me. I’ve deleted my account again, created a new one (same email address), and now I’ll just 100% stay the fuck away from that sub. I’ll also proceed to block their entire mod team later and stay away from ANY sub they moderate.

It’s absolutely asinine and absurd that a moderator has this much power over my usage and all.
