Either people didn’t know how to draw back then, or Avogado was monstrously ugly…
He looks like a mole…
This style of drawing wasn’t about making someone look pretty or ugly it was about making an accurate portrait, so he likely looked very similar.
I love this image, and this was one of my favorite numbers in science too. Sometimes I think it’s more difficult to imagine how insanely small the atomic scale is than how insanely large the cosmic scale is.
I wish I had an avocado.
Can someone help a pleb like me know the guy and the number reference?
Three Twentysix explains it brilliantly
It’s Avogadro’s constant. The number of carbon atoms in 12 grams of carbon.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avogadro_constantWait. They redefined it in 2019 but I thought that “new” way was what I did in school 🤔
They changed the definition, the value is the same (within the error of the best available measurement of the time).
Look up Avogadro
Look up en passant
And that’s how you capture a thread.
Holy Mole-y
You kids these days with your Avogadro toast…
AvogadBRO
The Man, the Myth, the Mole
6.02 x 10^-23. It’s supposed a tiny number not a huge number.
No? It’s the number of particles per mol, a huge number.
Is that Avogadro’s constant?
Yes, it’s the avocado man himself in the picture.
Hey, that number is off by 2.14076 * 10^21
