I’ve been taking the dog outside on a retractable lead. I encourage him to do pee-pees but he’s shy even though I know he’s a dirty little boy.

So I put some newspaper down in the kitchen and explained nicely that in times of an emergency could he please use the facilities provided and NOT on my fucking carpet. 🤞

“Sam: I wonder if we’ll ever be put into songs or tales. Frodo: [turns around] What? Sam: I wonder if people will ever say, ‘Let’s hear about Frodo and the Ring.’ And they’ll say ‘Yes, that’s one of my favorite stories. Frodo was really courageous, wasn’t he, Dad?’ ‘Yes, my boy, the most famousest of hobbits. And that’s saying a lot.’ Frodo: [continue walking] You’ve left out one of the chief characters - Samwise the Brave. I want to hear more about Sam. [stops and turns to Sam] Frodo: Frodo wouldn’t have got far without Sam. Sam: Now Mr. Frodo, you shouldn’t make fun; I was being serious. Frodo: So was I. [they continue to walk] Sam: Samwise the Brave…”

On the topic of Tolkien, this morning I was going through some old books that were still in boxes from moving house last year. Found a copy of The Adventures of Tom Bombadill which I’ve had for decades, I remember my grandmother used to read it to me when I was a kid in the 70’s. Well, it turns out that this little hardback is a first edition print from 1962 (UK release) and some are selling online for $700+, one seller had a copy up for $1100!

No plans to sell it, but I should probably take a bit more care with it :)

It always makes me cry so damn hard when he gets to go to Valinor. Like, can you imagine him seeing Frodo again after all that time? 😭

And the scene when Gandalf, Galadriel, and Celeborn are boarding the ship at the Grey Havens, and then Frodo turns around… God it just kills me.

Annie Lennox’s voice is so damn ethereal as well

The countown is on for my de-toothing. About an hour to go. Hopefully it will be fairly straightforward, but those back molars can be a bit stubborn - and last time I had a tooth in poor condition removed it splintered in to lots of pieces and was an absolute mess to get out.

I have given myself permission to sook about it for at least tonight and tomorrow. I may also decide to aquire icecream, although with the current temperatures may just decide to increase my custard intake.

I like the idea of pain relief as a concept, but I have developed an intolerance to codeine. I’m not sure what other options might be available, but I’m honestly a bit nervous about trying anything new in case of side effects - I took panadeine after my last tooth removal and ended up with agonising stomach pains. I think it gave me a bit of painkiller PTSD.

I have decided to make a homemade pizza for dinner as a treat. Got a night out booked with some friends next weekend to celebrate. So tonight it’s be hassled by the cat as usual, and video games.

I may also be looking at a new guitar I’ve been thirsting over the last few months. But we’ll see…

Still hasn’t quite sunk in. But there’s definitely a weight off my shoulders. I almost fell asleep right after the meeting lol

So Cyberpunk 2077 is the game that pushes all of my buttons. As in I think about it when I’m not playing it. I deleted it off my PC while I was unemployed because I didn’t want to get sucked in and waste time. I just installed it, updating now, and then mods will be installed.

        Here we go!!!

Thank you ❤️ The meeting this morning where I told her about the police check was nerve wracking. But she said it’s ok and she was appreciative that I told her in advance which is nice.

It’s only basic: Pita bread base, diced tomato, mozarella, salami, capsicum and olives.

I haven’t had anything to eat other than chicken, veggies, and tuna pasta in about 4 months. This is a nice treat lol

Hell yeah gotta love that rush of relief and acceptance and then the permission to keep the good feels rolling with some nice food. Still sounds like a very satisfying pizza indeed 😺 You absolutely deserve a treat! I hope it’s onwards and upwards from here with being secure and not being hampered by the past.

Coped a lecture about how climate change isn’t real by an older bloke in front of me at the shops. Retorted that he’ll be dead before he see’s any real problems from it, which he didn’t like.

Police report submitted. I received a “notice to the victim” and she said that somebody will call me within 48 hours and I should avoid contaminating the area in case crime scene services decide to attend. Spooky. I’m going to see if I can convince my org to submit a property damage report for the broken walls, doors, and locks, but I doubt they will (they don’t like pressing charges as a general rule of thumb, I’ve seen kids damage 3x3m sections of wall, kick doors in, and try to torch houses and they still don’t call police.

I’m impressed with the police assistance line, the people I spoke to were very nice and understanding. I don’t have a very high impression of police, generally (although I don’t hate them). But every time I’ve called the PAL they’ve always been respectful and polite. Such a good service.

Is there any avenue for you to replace the high value items via insurance or something like that?

I’m sorry you’ve had to return to all the chaos but in the end as much as it hurts to lose material items, as long as you’re safe, that’s what’s most important.

My stuff is covered under their insurance, but that’s more of a behind the scenes process I won’t need to be involved in. I’ve asked for workers here overnight (even though I wanted to avoid that, it seems better than the alternative), so that at least I can sleep peacefully knowing somebody else is here to help if things go south and he comes back angry

Got level 9 intensity. There is certainly a marked difference between 5 and 9 💀

I prefer Moccona so it’s all good!

The description on the jars are more accurate rather than the intensity level I find. Some of them are the same intensity level but have wildly different aroma and flavour I’ve found.

HL is surprisingly fun to roam around, the castle especially. Spell slinging combat as well is pretty fun but it’s a little challenging at times.

The recent patch introduced some bad crashing bugs on both PS5 and PC though but there are workarounds. you need to turn off raytracing on the PS5 and for the PC version you need to turn off something call HOGs through the windows system settings.

Good news: nothing from my main room is missing. My main room has a deadbolt, so he couldn’t get in. My spare room isn’t so lucky, it isn’t a deadbolt, so he was able to get a screwdriver into the lock and push it open. For my main room though, he drilled a screw inside the lock hole and went mental kicking the door, but it didn’t work. Honestly impressed. Our front door isn’t a deadbolt though, which is a bit nerve wracking. I now know how easy it is to push the type of lock on my spare room open

Bad news: my MacBook isn’t in my main room which means it has definitely been stolen. I actually grabbed it before but then decided I wouldn’t need it so it wasn’t worth carrying. I thought I left it on my bed, but I actually left it on my desk, so it’s gone.

I’m really pissed about the poster. It was a nice canvas poster thing that I got as a Christmas present with the Tokyo train map on it. Completely slashed. Right through the middle. End to end. It’s not irreplaceable, but it had sentimentality. The MacBook is almost a decade old, missing screws, has shitty battery life, and has deep gouges marks in the top from when another kid at a previous place got shitty at me and scratched it up.

I asked about the threats he made over the phone to someone else, but apparently that was a misphrasing on their part. He didn’t threaten me, he was just abusive towards me. That makes me feel ever so slightly better about it, but

If the poster is canvas backed, you might be able to take it to a picture framing place, and get the tear(s) mended at the back with light canvas or paper tape. A canvas backed map is worth the bother. You might even think about getting the mended map laminated to protect and preserve it. The line will be still be visible from the front but the structural integrity will be nearly as good as new. Basically, they’ll flatten the map and then tape it from behind. You could do this yourself on a large tabletop I think - press it flat with a cool iron and then stick it together on the back. Please don’t use duct tape - that could ruin it.

Fun fact: I actually did meet her once. After the last bloke Luke Donnellan or whatever his name was got sacked (or probably resigned), she wanted to come do a tour of a Resi house. She hit up my old org and asked to get a tour of some houses, and they chose mine because it was settled at the time and she wasn’t too likely to be attacked. She seemed alright, I always imagined if a minister ever came to a Resi house they’d bring bodyguards and bulletproof vests (keep in mind I first entered Resi when I was 11, hardly had experience with ministerial visits). She only brought 1 dude, James, her personal assistant or something I guess, and the ceo of the last organisation. I gave her a brief rundown of my worst experiences and she seemed to listen, I also offered I’d be happy to share more with her another day, but she never took me up on that

They were never going to drop a minister into a shit situation, it’d make them look terrible. Here look Minister, a bunch of well behaved and settled kids, the system works, gib money.

I’ve had a few friends work in resicare, they said that there’s basically either kids taken out of bad situations or kids who are the bad situation. They felt it was bullshit that both types got mixed up in the houses.

If you’ve met her before, mention it if you make contact.

Seem to have hit the post-dinner slowdown. Come on you fellow spammers of the echo chamber, what’s happening this evening?

I ate 3 tacos because I only made two at work before realising that was a stupid idea, then I had a bowl of leek and tuna pasta. And now I’m chilling out to Boz Scaggs to lift my mood a bit this evening.

I’m also so grateful for my reverse cycle splitty. Found out my cousin in the sticks has had to turn down the central heating thermostat to 16C because their power bill is too high and my poor uncle from the tropics is wearing four layers indoors. That’s new builds for you, with the giant house footprints and warm air leaking everywhere…
