    just to remind you, while your anecdote was obviously about you in the USA, this story is about the UK.

    The UK, like the rest of the planet, doesn’t use HFCS in anything. At all. It basically only exists in the USA because the government pays farmers to grow corn.

    Only in the US do they label sugar based soft drinks as something special and “healthy”. It’s an amazing country.

    as for juice: a) different sugars are broken down in different ways. fructose isn’t quite as bad (not saying it’s GOOD). b) juice has a bunch of other things which are good in it, like fibre and vitamin C and such.

    Yes, fruit is better for you than fruit juice, and you’re right that juice should still be a treat, but in small doses it actually IS good for you. (unlikely soda, where in small doses it just isn’t bad for you)
