Ukrainian forces have decisively breached Russia’s first defensive line near Zaporizhzhia after weeks of painstaking mine clearance, and expect faster gains as they press the weaker second line, the general leading the southern counteroffensive has said.
It didn’t include the main point that Ukraine got past a really strong and devastating mine field and now can go back into their vehicles to go after the much less fortified second line. Russia never expected them to get past the first line and it took way longer than hoped.
