The RISC-V powered Pinetab-V seems to be progressing very well.

RISC-V is an open source architecture competing with the likes of ARM, and might help pave the way for some truly open hardware. It has also proven itself power efficient, so this could be good news for all kinds of mobile linux devices down the road. Debian is already making it a supported architecture.

Here’s another Mastodon user reporting that the Pinetab-V “now has a fundamentally functional - with some caveats - usable desktop boot image.”

It even has working WiFi, which if I’m not mistaken puts it ahead of Pinetab 2 in at least one respect.
