  • The LAPD had been abusing black people forever. The OJ trial brought international attention to the situation of systemic racism in policing and the legal system. It wasn’t that black people were glad he got away with murder. Read up on the trial. The lead detective talked with a reporter on tape years earlier, and talked about beating, killing, planting evidence, and other abuses against black men specifically.

  • I’m not a roofer, but I’d have the vents installed the correct way. Even if it was sealed well the whole setup looks sloppy and prone to leaks. Show the boss or forman of the roofing company the pictures of the work you dont like and see if they’ll fix it. If not you could look up your local laws, the roofer may have to make this right. If they do then document the work and make sure it’s good. Either way I’d fix it, you don’t fuck with your roof.

  • It’s getting to the point that you can’t sleep anywhere legally unless you’re paying someone for the space you’re occupying. Most of the cities near me have destroyed the woods that homeless people lived in, forcing them to move and leaving behind a weird ass looking stand of trees.

I used to work with homeless people and as much as being outside sucks, shelters can be worse. We had people in their 70s who went to shelters and slept on the floor, their heads almost touching their neighbors. They had their meds stolen and had to sleep on top of their belongings to keep them safe. A lot of people chose to sleep outside in the summer because they felt safer.

  • I worked at a MSP as a tier I tech that was like this. Their yearly revenue was like $360 million dollars and they held quarterly meetings telling us about the big promotions for upper levels, and how they’re doing better than ever because of remote work due to the pandemic. They paid people starting $16 an hour. I was making $18 when I left. A 1 bedroom was about $1200 a month, and that was on the lower end. I kept asking for more and telling them I could work at a gas station and make the same. They bought us pizza once a week and they’d take us to a bar a couple times a year and my bosses would get shit faced. When “important” people came they had nice food catered and made us stay in cubicle land until everyone left and we were allowed to have the scraps. They still wanted us to dress up, though. Fuck corporations. I’m trying to leave the one I’m in now.

  • The chances of that one bullet being fired and one bullet accidentally hitting exactly where it needed to are pretty low.

The bullet didn't need to hit anywhere.

It’s pretty clear he either didn’t think this was the kid or wasn’t expecting to have (what looked like) a gun pointed in his general discussion.

There is no mention of the toy gun
     being pointed at the cop.

It’s also pretty clear that backup was not far away based on there being other cops on the scene within seconds of the shooting.

Then he should have waited a few
more seconds and not tried to take on
a potential shooter alone and in such
     an incompetent way.

That was still plenty of time if it was a real gun for that officer’s family to be attending a funeral right now.

That sounds like something the police
would say. You don't get to use lethal
force against someone based on a call
from the public, with zero investigation.
