My brother, who want nothing to do with computers if he can, asked me to install Linux on his domestic laptop. It’s not an everyone is doing it yet, but there’s definitely something.
Forcing everyone to stay connected will make pirating it harder, and that will drive many, many people away.
Playing on Linux for a year now. I wouldn’t say it was flawless, but a lot has to do with me learning how to do it correctly. Like using steam and heroic game launcher, trying a different version of Proton or wine, and it’s beginning to be very easy now that I have the right recipe so to say.

Et c’est facile de comprendre pourquoi : y a pas que la télé, mais les politiciens de droite jusqu’au PS et PCF font le jeu du racisme et du communautarisme. Ça fait littéralement 20 ans, depuis le 11 septembre 2001 en fait, que le racisme est l’alpha et l’oméga de la politique de droite. C’était déjà le cheval de bataille de Sarkozy.
Seulement, les partis républicains, comme ils sont républicains, ils n’ont que des discours racistes, mais dans les actes ils se contentent de disruption administratives et de symboles (merci Hollande pour la déchéance de nationalité, sale traître !)
Le RN ne fait que proposer des solutions au problème que les libéraux présente comme un écran de fumée pendant qu’ils déploie le libéralisme le plus dégénéré qui est la véritable source des problèmes des gens.
C’est pas la même chose. Mais maintenant ils disent qu’il vaut mieux s’opposer à lfi qu’au rn, de fait.

I feel like external pressure is only half the problem. It is important but IMO the role model is also a problem. Non toxic masculinity is often describe in the negative of the toxic masculinity : you’re good when you are not toxic, not when you are something positive.
In some way it is less restrictive, but in other way it is missing the model.
The other side of this coin is the corruption of the ideal that lead to nihilism. Toxic masculinity corrupts ideals. Violence is strength. Protecting is necessarily the destruction of the threat. Independence is power. Smart is manipulation and deception. Everything is to be seen through a lens of domination and power. And that is the core of the problem.
Instead, a model is to be seen with any quality, but through another lens. Strength can help the weak. Smart can disarm an explosive situation. Power is to be shared and used wisely. Basically, a model opposite to the toxic masculinity can be many things with all the qualities of the virility, but the difference is that they will be used and targeted differently. And for many people, it is to be learnt through a model.
This is a core problem because for many people, if you tell them to drop the toxic behaviour, there will be nothing left to aim for, nothing for them to transform into.
And this goes back to the social validation you’re talking about. Going from toxic to positive requires a transformation so that the qualities someone has can be positive instead of negative, but as qualities they can still be praised and admired.
Les maladresses collent à mélenchon bien plus qu’à d’autres en ce moment. Avec cette histoire d’antisémitisme on remonte assez loin. J’ai pas vu la moindre petite phrase des le Pen traqués comme ça, alors qu’on a des photos de salut néo nazi de le Pen qui sont pas très vieilles. Après effectivement un journaliste qui passe un truc méchant sur macron va se faire virer, alors ça aide.
Sauf que non, le problème n’a pas commencé avec l’attaque du hamas en octobre. L’attaque ne sort pas de nulle part. Quiconque s’informait un peu de la situation là bas savait pertinemment comment un assaut se déroulerait. Le bain de sang était prévisible et prévu par tous ceux qui étaient informés même juste de loin.
Après, l’échelle, c’était pas prévu. J’imaginais pas que ça irait jusqu’au génocide qualifié. Mais est-ce qu’un bain de sang “raisonnable” aurait été mieux ? C’est quoi le ratio acceptable en palestinien vs israélien ?
Je te rejoins jusqu’à la fin, sur le sujet du terrorisme. Je refuserais de parler de terrorisme aussi, sauf à une condition : que tous les moralisateurs pro-israéliens appelle également Netanyahou un terroriste.
Le problème sous jacent, c’est que le terme de terroriste n’est utilisé que pour deux types de crimes : les crimes commis par des islamistes, et ceux commis par des gauchistes.
A partir de là, le terme n’a plus aucune légitimité. Crimes de guerre par contre souligne le fait que c’est une guerre qui se joue, et qu’ Israël n’est pas innocent. Mais c’est bien la le problème : si Israël n’est pas innocent, le massacre des arabes de Palestine ne se justifie plus.
Et c’est bien là la clef du problème pour la droite : il faut enfoncer l’idée que les arabes sont tous des terroristes ou qu’ils soutiennent le terrorisme, comme ça on peut légitimement les persécuter.
C’est encore un double standard en passant : on est antisémite sans faire exprès parce qu’on a dit un mot de travers sans savoir sur un sujet sans rapport, mais de l’autre côté, soutenir des arabes c’est soutenir le terrorisme et y a aucun problème pour dire ça sur toutes les chaînes.
Du coup j’ai vérifié, et effectivement le contexte manque : d’abord c’est la journaliste qui amène le sujet de la religion sur une question qui ne le mérite pas ; ensuite, la phrase est tronquée ; enfin, la phrase est interprétée comme antisémite sans qu’il y ait la moindre preuve que ce soit le cas.
C’est quand même beaucoup, je trouve, pour parler de dérapage antisémite. Je pense qu’on peut aisément parler la de chasse aux sorcières.
Ton premier exemple est encore une fois un amalgame : accuser ou insulter une personne juive n’est pas une preuve d’antisémitisme. L’extrait ne permet pas dire que la remarque est antisémite.
Pour le second, j’aimerais bien connaître le contexte, parce que lire mélenchon qui parle de religion, c’est tout à fait surréaliste.
Après, outre la diffamation évidente conte lfi récemment, je trouve ça absolument dingue à quel point les médias se découvrent une passion pour la lutte contre le racisme, mais qu’ils ne parlent absolument pas de tous les racismes qui ne sont pas de l’antisémitisme. Pour moi, c’est une preuve assez évidente de propagande politique pour décrédibiliser lfi et, en négatif, dédiaboliser le RN.
C’est véritablement abusif de parler de dérapage en fait. Tous les exemples donnés le sont dans le contexte de la guerre en Palestine. Et tout les impliquent que si on ne soutient pas inconditionnellement le facho au pouvoir en Israël, alors on est antisémite.
C’est absolument n’importe quoi. C’est purement de la chasse aux sorcières. Certaines organisations juives participent littéralement à la dérive fasciste du pays là. On va probablement me traiter d’antisémitisme pour ça, mais quand la liberté d’expression et les opposants politiques sont menacés au nom de la lutte contre l’antisémitisme, c’est une dérive gravissime.

The government in 1700 didn’t have as strong of a grasp on the military as it does now. And the police kind of didn’t exist in this time. The biggest inventions of the 20th century are mass surveillance, repression, and propaganda. An armed force being able to go from one side of the country to the other in a few hours is also a strength for government stability.

For 2 years the liberals governed with the leaning to far right - right. The far right applauded many of their policies.
This Sunday the far right went first in the European election, because the left was a bunch of clowns and everyone hates the liberal government.
1h after the results, the Liberal president Macron disbanded the parliament. Now there are 3 weeks to elect a new parliament. He also opted for a vote that favors the biggest, so the far right is favoured, and there’s no time for a campaign and barely enough time for the left to unite. The president is also still saying on TV that the left is just as bad and as extreme as the far right.
We didn’t see it coming, but the liberal who pretended he would fight the far right is the first accelerationist in France. It is chaos right now, and the far right has never been so close from being in power in France since 1944. The 5th Republic is almost a presidential regime btw, so if the far right has the power, it’ll be very dirty.

Windows forced me to update to a version that has advertisement in it. It has built in network calls in the start menu. I would have to pay a licence and make an account, something I avoided for years. Sharing file on a private network is insanely hard to do and very buggy.
Now I’m not a Windows admin, but I’m a Linux admin, so there are many, many things I know how to do on Linux and not on Windows.
This made me realize that there is a bias: when something doesn’t work on windows, the something doesn’t work, or you only need to find how to hack it to work. But when something doesn’t work on Linux, it’s Linux that doesn’t work. That’s a double standard. The same kind of work or problems on Windows is ignored.
There are so many things today to help people use Windows, like classes, professionals, help desk, it’s everywhere, for everyone, yet it’s somehow considered easy to use windows. BTW any organisation that made the move did saw it happen. I mean that many organisations moved to Linux and gave the support and formation for it to work, and it worked.
