1 year agoI think a really important aspect of physical security that people often overlook is retention. It doesn’t matter if your laptop is encrypted if someone grabs it while you’re working and runs. If you have data on your laptop that you don’t want a thief to have, I think it’s worth while to have some kind of physical retention.
For example, my laptop automatically turns off if my hardware key (attached to my belt on a retractable keychain) is removed, or if the laptop is shaken.
I develop a self-hosted service designed to do exactly this! It’s not quite finished yet, but it’s at the point where enough functionality works that it can be used for testing.
