Hi! I’m a developer for the Mlem iOS client. Join us on !mlemapp@lemmy.ml!
This is related to a change in Lemmy v0.19.4. We’ve fixed this issue; it’ll be live in a day or two.
I’m glad it’s working now :)
Hey there! We’re sorry this isn’t working for you. Just to be clear, you should be typing “lemm.ee” in the “Instance” field and “chimera” in the “username” field.
If that doesn’t work, there’s unfortunately something wrong with our login system. I’m currently unable to find the root cause - I’ve tried creating an account on lemm.ee
, and am able to login without any problems. I’ve created an issue on our GitHub repository here and will let you know if we make any progress.
Hey there! Mlem doesn’t control the way that posts are sorted when using the “Hot” sort mode - that’s something that Lemmy does. The mechanism of the “Hot” sorting algorithm is described in detail here.
You may prefer to use one of the “Top of…” sort modes instead, if you’d prefer to see more popular posts. In Mlem, you can change the default sort mode under Settings -> Sorting -> Posts
.
Adding widgets is something we’re interested in; we’re keeping track of the feature here. Right now, it’s not high on our priority list as it doesn’t directly impact the core functionality of the app. Therefore, it’s unlikely to happen in the next few updates, though we do plan to explore it in future.
Not yet, I’m afraid. We’re tracking the issue here. The next major update will include a complete rewrite of large sections of backend the app, in which we aim to solve this issue.
This isn’t possible in Mlem right now, but we can add it to the next beta 👍
We’re aware of a bug in which Mlem sometimes crashes when moving into the background on iPad when “Lock with Face ID” is on. Do you have that setting enabled? We’ve looked into that issue and now know why it happens, but it’s unfortunately rather tricky to fix with our current architecture. In the next major update we’re rewriting a large part of our codebase, which should allow us to fix this.
Mlem dev here! Admin features aren’t live quite yet, but they should be available as part of an upcoming beta in a couple of weeks or so.
Mlem doesn’t have this option just yet, but we’re adding it the next beta. Memmy and Arctic have had it for a while.
Adding such an option is very easy to do for iOS apps - Apple provides a simple API for it, so we just have to add a settings toggle. I’m not familiar with how it works in Android development, but it may be more complicated.
Uploading images in comments will be in the next update, along with a fix for the inbox count bug! We’re also working on a Mark Read on Scroll option, the Modlog and moderator actions (which have all been highly requested features).
Unfortunately, full markdown support is rather tricky to do. We’ve done some deeper research into how we might implement this since the last time it was suggested; it’s a large undertaking that would require some significant time input, but it should be possible. It’s not something we’re scoping for the upcoming update, but it’s something we hope to dedicate time to further down the line.
Mlem dev here! We’re still working on it - a PR is merged every couple of days on our GitHub. It’s true that development isn’t as active as it used to be in the height of the Reddit migration, which unfortunately leads to new features being announced less frequently, but it’s to be expected. We’re working towards another release sometime in the coming weeks.
If you noticed any bugs with Mlem and you’d like to report them, you can do so here and we’ll look into it 👍
Side note: We don’t currently have any plans to drop Lemmy 0.18 support. Supporting 0.18 isn’t a major technical challenge for us at the moment, so we don’t really have a reason to drop support for it.
Does this happen on every comment you post, or just some? I’m not able to reproduce this either yet, unfortunately.
Hey there! We’re aware that the comment-collapse animation is a little jarring; this is something we want to improve in future.
You can simplify the animations used when switching pages and when opening the image viewer by going into System Settings -> Accessibility -> Per-App Settings (right at the bottom) and enabling “Reduce Motion” and “Prefer cross-fade transitions”.
Disabling the comment-collapsing animation isn’t yet possible. I’ve opened an issue for this on our GitHub, and will look into disabling it when “Reduce Motion” is enabled 👍
Yep, that’s another way it could be done. We’ll add text-selecting in the next major update, which will make this possible. However, it’s not quite as seamless as having a dedicated “Translate” button, which I’d prefer to use if implementing it proves to be feasible.
This would certainly be a useful feature. Unfortunately, Apple does not make their translation API available for us to use, so we’d have to use someone else’s API instead. I haven’t looked too deeply into potential options just yet, but have created an issue here to keep track of the suggestion 👍
The Saved feed has moved to the Feeds list, just below “All”, “Local” and “Subscribed”.
Hey! At the moment this isn’t (easily) possible. We’ll add a way to do this in the next update 👍
