Don’t you need a lawyer who is licensed in the state? Why would you want to fly in a lawyer from out of state, even if you could afford it?
Cindy Crawford looks looks incredibly manly. That’s the weirdest one for me.
That’s the thread. When I use that link while logged into lemm.ee I don’t see any comments. But I can see comments from here while logged into my lemdro.id account: https://lemdro.id/post/820611
I don’t think he will be “in prison” in any sense during the booking, so it doesn’t sound too important about how close they are.
Thanks. I pasted the link in the search bar. Does it take a while for things to sync? I don’t see anything a few minutes after doing that.
Is it clear how close they have to be to an ex-President at all times? Is the law written that they need to be in visual contact at all times? I have no idea.
I installed Sync and logged in with just my lemm.ee account and clicked the link in my above post. I was taken to the post, but I couldn’t see any of the comments, but I saw the indicator showing that 52 comments existed. I was able to up vote the post, but I didn’t try to reply.
I’ll explore some of the other suggestions. Thanks
Probably the only reason Mexico hasn’t already pulled it out is because they don’t want to waste money that they know will never be reimbursed to them.
Maybe the US will take it down and bill Texas themselves.
Sounds like Mexico can just take down most of this thing.
I was using Firefox on Android when I found the link from the Google search. I have many apps, but not Sync. I will try that. I tried finding the post using one of my apps by scrolling through that community, while logged in only with the lemm.ee account, but I couldn’t seem to find it.
I tried that in Liftoff, but it opened in the browser built into the app. I was already logged into my lemmy.world account (in Firefox, which seemed to be rendering the page in the app), and I was able to comment but it was posted from that account. I went to Firefox and logged out of .world and tried again, but then it said “You must login to comment” from within the app.
I toggled “use in app browser” in the Liftoff settings, but then when I clicked the link it just opened Firefox and took me to that page.
I find one line particularly powerful, and it’s been used in a couple famous songs.
Jenny Lou Carson (1944), made popular by Willie Nelson (1966)
I’d trade all of my tomorrows for just one yesterday For what good is life without the one you love I’d trade all of my tomorrows, they’re worthless anyway If my arms can’t hold the one I am dreaming of
Just an empty world is all I have before me I’d give anything if you were with me now I’d trade all of my tomorrows for just one yesterday I don’t want to live without you anyhow
Kris Kristofferson Me and Bobby McGee (1969)
And I’d trade all of my tomorrows For one single yesterday Holdin’ Bobby’s body next to mine Freedom’s just another word for nothin’ left to lose Nothin’ left is all that Bobby left me.
It’s been less than three years since this crime.
You can blow out a candle
but you can’t blow out a fire.
Once the flames begin to catch
the wind will blow it higher.
… And the eyes of the world are watching now.
They are the last lyrics of Biko, by Peter Gabriel. The way he sings those lyrics as the song builds toward the end hits me every time I hear it. The last line is sung after a slight pause, and it sounds like a veiled threat to the leaders of South Africa that killed Stephen Biko. Also, it didn’t take a long time for change to happen in South Africa after the event, but when he wrote the song it was still several years away. So at the time it was still wishful thinking that “the wind would blow the flames higher”.
Don’t you have to use a lawyer licensed in Georgia? Maybe he got thrown in jail for being an idiot.
