Embracer Group has already conducted layoffs at several first-party developers. It seems that Cryptic Studios and Zen Studios are the latest teams to be affected by the ongoing restructuring.
At the moment they are denying that layoffs have occurred, but several Cryptic employees have changed their LinkedIn profiles to “Open to work”.
And by “several” we mean about half, including heavy hitters we’re all familiar with. I suspect it’s just a reversal of work-from-home as a quiet layoff (about 70% of workers said they’d look for opportunities in the case of such reversal), but it could be worse.
This is definitely not a positive development in any event, and likely means we get even less content somehow.
