They all look so staged but I’m worried that I’m just jumping on the I’m So Smart And Immune To Lies train

Do we have actual proof of companies as high profile as Apple doing this?

Yes, that one became such a trope it made it all the way to SNL and I doubt Google paid for the advertising.
