It’s pissing down out there and the steam is unbelievable.

I like it when a storm happens then Woolworth’s car insurance texts me to say there’s a storm where I normally park. I park in the garage.

Lost power, lost all internet and mobile data and phone is out.

Power eta restoration is in 2 days.

Just posting this while I can and it still works.

This afternoon really wrecked the power grid in the SE and all traffic lights aren’t working.

But I’m safe and no trees or damage were incurred thank god.

Thanks. Just unlucky. I guess the network isn’t under any load at the moment and it’s suddenly working.

I’m going to have to charge up my power banks at work just incase this goes on for longer.

Thankfully I still have a gas stove so I can still cook basic stuff.

How’s it down your neck of the wood?

          Sounds like a good plan!

Normally we get fucked on here but luckily we got by without any major damage.

Last time we lost power for a couple of days and it made me realise how much I rely on tech to keep me happy.

Ended up pulling out a book because sleep is for the people with air cons.

Turns out Touched by an Angel (ten year old Doctor Who novel) still holds up, and actually is better than I remembered. Who knew?

Some of those scifi series like Dr Who books are written by really good and now famous authors, using fake names. It’s reliable income in a trade that’s notorious for variability.

He’s a great story teller, it was a shame he went sub-only, but he’s got to make a living like the rest of us. I can only find his new pod ‘Medical Mysteries’ but not his true crime series.

So tonight, just before stepping into the shower, I asked our fluffy cat whether he wanted to join me in the bathroom.

He meowed in response but remained on the cat tree.

Not more than half a minute later closing the door, he’s at the door, screaming to be let in.

Our fence is completely down now between us and the fuckwits next door. Every time my husband goes to speak to them they run inside and ignore his banging on the door.

This time my husband knocked on their back door and they still didn’t answer. The old cunt lives outside like a hobbo for fucksake. I’m going to put a curse on them.

Yeowza. One job I ended up doing in Clayton (first one cancelled) had the storm hit halfway through and they lost power - their son said all the way to Ringwood and not expected back until midnight.
Fortunately all good in my area but until I got to the Dingley bypass most of the lights were out, to say nothing of the trees with half the branches gone and the odd ambulance. 😬

Haha UE just updated return of mains power to 1pm on the 15th.

    In metro melbourne.

I think not. They would be skinned and worn as coats.

At least you have internet. Vodafone is fucked and this is the first time I could get online and it might die again in a few.

I’m already planning the safest route to work due to all the traffic lights not working.

Hope you’re ok, I think you’re my closest neighbour here online given where we live.

Internet is entirely cellular, the ntd was the first thing to go when the power died. Weirdly? My backup modem is 3G and since everything has shifted to 4g+ it’s very underloaded. Running better than my phone.

We have no power but i’ve lived through enough bigass outages that we have plenty of creature comforts. We got fans, console power, working kettle, even a fridge. Womp womp.

If the shit folds out into tomorrow ima gonna bust out the solar panels to refresh some batteries and bring up the big bastard to run the inverter for my laptop.

I was fuming when my phone was out and mobile data wasn’t working.

I couldn’t get updates and could only send texts and had to get updates from a friend.

I’m more worried my frozen food. Got about 4kg of dumplings/gyoza that I recently bought and I don’t really want it all to go to waste because of how stretched I am financially.

The only saving grace has been my power packs and having a Nintendo Switch, my god that is a god send and also my podcasts that get pre downloaded.

Shame there’s power at work though, could have done with a day off.

I recently had solar panels installed so if the sun is really out tomorrow and power is out, what happens?

I also saw trees down on east boundary and along centre road on the way back from work. Big tree took up 1 and a half lanes on centre road near Brady Road/Chesterville Dr.

Glad you’re doing ok as well.

I hope we all get power back soon.

Your solar system most likely won’t island, unless you have a powerwall or similar. They’re designed to shut off if no grid feed to stop accidentally frying workers doing repairs.

Standalone freezer? Could hold if you don’t open it. Icebox? Cook those fuckers and extend their lifespan.

My power came back early morning I’m currently experiencing a weird thing were I think my power isn’t stable so I can see all my lights dimming and getting brighter all at the same time.

Don’t think devices are properly being powered either as my air con unit was going berserk with beeping and woke me up.

When I get home I’m going to turn off the mains for a while and then turn it back on unless it fixes itself by the time I get home.

Did your power come back? I hear South Road lights are all out at the moment.

Yeah they’re trying that in brighton. Literally in dendy’s special survey. I mean, do they want to find out how far a fist can go up their arse? 'Cos that strikes me as a very good way to find out.
