Shved, a marksman, was constantly moving between positions in Avdiivka, shooting so many Russian troops he said he “lost count after 10.”

Damn, look out Russia, we’ve got a certified badass with the arithmetic skills of a 5 year old over here.

Every single one of these jokers is telling stories about “waves of attackers” and “I killed, like, so many of them” that I have to conclude one of two things must be happening. Russia is managing to conduct a well orchestrated cover-up of absolutely apocalyptic losses of human life despite apparently every part of the military apparatus being completely incompetent at the most basic of tasks, or maybe these guys with their 5 weeks of training are just not very adept at judging the size of the forces attacking them and whether they’re actually hitting whatever they think they’re shooting at.

A machine-gunner and native of Canada, he set up in a one-story house and watched as Russia sent in inexperienced troops in waves each morning, afternoon and evening. They appeared to be in their 40s or 50s, with no protective vests or helmets.

Based on that description, I’m wondering if maybe this guy’s not bullshitting and just gunned down a bunch of Ukrainians instead.

Hours later, once they confirmed the pair were Ukrainian, they treated the injured troop’s crushed leg, provided him with food and cigarettes, and helped him evacuate.

Implying they would have withheld care if they were Russian

I’m actually afraid he was shooting at civilians that refused to evacuate from Avdeevka, because the majority of such people are old, supporting Russia and unable to leave.

Reading this honestly reminds me of some of the Austrian antics in the battle of Karánsebes (I’d thought the incident was in WW1, but apparently I was wrong looking it up). Basically, with alcohol, the differing languages of the various nationalities of the empire, etc… they wound up slaughtering themselves.

I wonder how Avdiivka will stack up once the fog of war is lifted… it honestly sounds like a similar utter clusterfuck.
