Biting freeze peach commentary! So deep!

Now here’s a question… / scatterbrained thinking

In that priest arrested community on here, Catholics get shit on for pedophilia all the time. Speaking truth to power probably, defending kids.

And for sure this other comic the extremist made is real dicey (NSFW).

How do I square that (the stupidity of caring about the tunnel stuff) with the fact Metzitzah B’peh is just… whatever, I won’t tell you what to think about it. Factually, it’s controversial. Does it make sense to meme something you don’t like if it’s pro-kid but offensive to a marginalized group?

Source, which also talks about acceptance & rejection of using a glass tube so you don’t have to put your mouth on a baby’s bleeding penis.

Concise question: could an egalitarian draw a comic calling out Metzitzah B’peh as wrong without the comic being antisemitic?

Seeking comments from people who aren’t brain dead (aren’t antisemitic). (sry 2 many unclear words)

Hoping to satisfy curiosity and clear up cognitive business!

      Religious freedom/Jewish people good

      Extremism bad

      Mouth on baby wound uncomfortable

      Criticism of uncomfortable acts good

Extremist criticism of rare aspect of religion: explained as bad by top commenter, due to heavy handedness / lack of nuance

      = Comic not justified

Not surprised you assume the worse though given this is the Internet! Healthy skepticism :)

        Uh huh…

I think the intent is the part that makes this particular comic inappropriate. It’s not to point out that various religions or cultural groups have archaic rituals that are taboo or unsanitary. It’s to mock the Jews. If a comic included various religious practices, suggesting that all of them are out of place in modern society, it might have been okay. But this person specifically does it do be offensive, and appeal to people who enjoy inflicting pain.

Some people like giving and receiving compliments, hugs, and well wishes. Meanwhile there’s this friggin’ guy. Can you imagine?

New antisemitic strategy unlocked! I kid.

Something for me to think about, thanks :)

Just wanted to point out its legal to burn a pride flag as it is also free speech. The comic in the OP isn’t even true. It’s made up just to stoke anger against the LGBTQ community. Their comics on Jewish people are the same.

      100%. Dude eats crayons.

The comic in the OP isn’t even true.

IIRC, saying truly abhorrent things is legal, thus even hate speech is free speech.

Would the comic be accurate if it labeled both flag burnings as free speech, and then also labeled only the pride flag burning as hate speech?

Edit - hmm I think country of origin is a protected class… It would be interesting if America considered anti-American speech as hate speech, but conceivable

In Canada we have actual hate speech laws, but even here burning a pride flag doesn’t count. You’d have to be publishing things that say something like “death to gay people”.

His comics weren’t offensive because they criticized a practice that is done by (a very small number) of Jews, they were offensive because they conveyed the message that all Jews did it.

You may make a comic calling it wrong without equating it with judaism, but in reality I think the Jewish community already has it figured out and can probably talk about the issue with more nuance than you can, and so it is probably best to leave it to the professionnals.
