Everyone acts like the president is a king, but you tend to lose seats both nationally and locally even under a popular president like Obama, who hemorrhaged seats at every level his whole tenure. I used to vote. If you vote for a third party, in my experience, the DNC is just going to go 😭 “SPOILER! We would have gotten all of that candidate’s voters if only ballot access were even more restrictive than it already is!” 😭 And post-Perot they’ve already rigged it water tight at the presidential level, so it’s futile, even if everyone wanted the third party to win. As long neither party in the duopoly collapses, those are the options for president.

You don’t have to vote for a single candidate but the ballot initiatives are essentially direct democracy with tangible outcomes to your community. If you cant support that then you’re wasting your time even thinking about politics and letting all that negativity in your head.
