Laid up in bed all day with a cold. Urghhh I’m a giant sook when I’m sick 🤧
I’m back. Gotta love a full size mirror.
5 loads of washing done, blankets and pillows cleaned, 2 loads dishes, continuing getting tapestry fabric ready to make new chair covers, next have to clean up after cats , then I’m done 💤
I don’t want to sound dramatic, but I’m a man, and I have a cold. Now, we all know that means I’m dying a slow, painful death.
No one has ever felt this bad in the history of humanity lol
Woe is me 🤧
Also this is Gibson’s Imgur thingy https://imgur.com/gallery/AtAIjpO
stop it, it’s scientifically proven that men actually do suffer more than women when they have respiratory illnesses, they feel worse and get physically sicker .
Take care. Rest. Have some meds and some lemon honey tea.
hugs
Weekend highlight: Finding a Philippino take away/burger place that does an ube (purple yam) flavoured dessert.
Incredibly sweet, but delicious.
Interesting. There’s a place on Lygon street that does similar. Beku Gelati. I should try a different flavour every week.
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST I STARTED SMELLING THAT SMELL AND CHECKED AND THERE WAS A DEAD RAT UNDER MY BED UGGGHHH
God knows when it got there but a) I only just started smelling That Smell an hour back (and I crashed for a couple of hours this afternoon) and b) I’m pretty sure it wasn’t there yesterday because I hauled the old suitcase out from under the other side of the bed to take to the op shop and I didn’t spot anything.
But ugggghhhhhh.omg, wtf
rats are the worst
so many hugs
eat a million butter menthols
Luckily I had some peppermint oil on hand, so that’s been sprinkled around.
I just hope the smell hasn’t got into the mattress or the bed. Ugggh.
😱😭💀
Holy shit, stuff of nightmares!! That’s farked.
Least it’s gone now, but damn.
Urggggghhhhh, burn down the whole house and have a decontamination shower.
Still better than a live rat I guess?
Big hugs.
One time I finished my black coffee to find bits of cockroach in the bottom of the mug… if that makes you feel any better about sleeping on a rat.
.< Drunk some water in the dark and felt one hit my teeth once. Yergh.
Good night everyone. 😘
pizzas for dinner. 😋😋 One hawaiian, one vegie with artichokes, mushies and roasted red capsicum
I had a premade beef stir fry. Not as much sauce and veg as I would’ve done if I was making it myself, but it was nice for a quick and easy dinner
Hawaiian for me please!
@Duenan @Seagoon_ @melbourne Did you go with home made? Local pizza shop? Or Domino’s?
Home made of course.
@Seagoon_ @melbourne Home made pizzas are the best 😋
Last time I made them, I stopped by Kmart to get a couple of pizza trays.
The only issue I’ve had is I’ve gone for a store-bought base, and I haven’t found a good one. Which is a challenge, because wifey is a bit of a fussy eater.
(Also, wifey puts too many toppings on hers and they end up going everywhere!)
But so much tastier and fresher than you get from a pizza shop.
Sounds like she needs more cheese to stop it from going all over the place.
I do enjoy a stacked pizza though.
😖 Zooks decided because I woke up early yesterday that 3:30 is now wake up time and head-butted me awake.
Admittedly she woke me out of one of those annoying dreams, but still.Someone likes to run across my legs for no reason at about 4am.
Admittedly I was dreaming about being assassinated, so no harm done.
A few days ago, our tortoiseshell alpha pretty much purred me awake at 4am, approximately 1 hour to wake up time for me to go pick up my wife. Yep, she just sat on her pillow and purred LOUDLY.
This morning at maybe 2am she parked herself on top of me, and groomed my hair for a good 10-20 minutes, the same way she grooms our fluffy one.

There will be a slight delay. Hope you like mint.
Is that… pantry stable DIY icecream sandwiches?!
It’s box mix to make some. I was intrigued by the powdered icecream bit. Will report later.
We will be eagerly waiting.
Very interesting. Keen to hear how they go
Lots of fruit please and a nice cup of tea.

Marches and protests without a specific, achievable demand.
End violence against women. I agree and think it’s a good a idea but taking to the streets probably isn’t going to convince wife bashers. It’s also a very general demand doesn’t point any specific government policy response. And I noticed that Jacinta Allen was in the crowd anyway so…
Similar to Palestine protests in Australia. Israel and the American government which essentially props up their military do not give a fuck. Protesting in Australia does nothing.
A protest that works is something that is a specific demand where what’s required is clear. For example Vietnam War protests that demanded the end of Australia’s involvement. It’s clear what is required and obvious as to how to achieve it.
It’s the real life version of updating your Facebook profile picture. It’s about being seen to care and being part of a group. I think it also probably helps people feel like they are doing something when they feel powerless and don’t know what to do, but that doesn’t make it effective.
Part of the problem is that a lot of people feel disenfranchised from government, so they don’t believe actions like writing to their local MP will do anything.
Combined with that we have been putting more and more power in the hands of private companies and telling people to exercise political power by choosing what products to buy and from who. So instead of being able to lobby governments to introduce stronger standards on the media’s depiction of women (as an example) we have media outlets “self-regulating” and are told if we want things to change to just stop watching things we don’t like.
We have a great system of government where every person gets to have some input into who makes the decisions and rules over us, and as a society we have done everything we can to negate that by taking as much power as we can away from government (which in its own flawed way is goverment by the people) and instead giving power to corporations. All supported by a pretence that “consumer power” and being able to pick which brand we buy (out of a selection that are mostly made by the same company anyway) is somehow giving individuals more power.
It’s strange. The way we handle serious issues has really changed the past twenty years. Loss of tolerance, loss of compromise, loss of action.
No discussing an issue. No compromises. No solutions asked for or sought. No running for elections or interacting with politics in a real sense. Telling people what to say and think, or else.
@Seagoon_ @RustyRaven @melbourne Here’s something from the early '90s that shows just how much things have changed over the past 30-odd years.
Here’s a clip of the prime minister at the time, Paul Keating, debating tax policies with the opposition leader, John Hewson.
As in, going right into details. Hewson wanted to bring in a GST, Keating opposed it.
And they debated on national TV.
On A Current Affair.
As in, the TV show with all the dodgy tradies used to cover important national issues, like how the tax system should work.
That was the year I became old enough to vote. I grew up with that sort of debate as normal, if you read the newspapers you would have the same sorts of things. Now it’s all name calling, slogans and picking a side like it’s a game of football. We used to at least pretend that social issues and making the world a better place mattered, now it seems to be just about winning no matter what.
Is there a website that I can put in a hallmark number and it would tell me more about an object?
You mean silver?
Nah it’s a candlestick holder. Made in England. Possibly brass.
Nup, today was not as good as yesterday. Bad sleep, got some shit done but starting to feel some kind of second wave of Bleah coming on. Just like the last time I got covid… I’ll do a test tonight (although a negative doesn’t mean it isn’t something else).
Swear to god I’ll cry if I feel sick tomorrow morning. I will not go in sick but it suuuucks to miss another day of pay (doubt they’d let me take my first day off on sick leave)
Nice things for today though:
positivity!!!1 ✨
- GLORIOUS sun
- scored a $2 bacopa at Bunnings
- stocked up on Bonsoy at $3.90 this week
- cheap fennel bulbs 😋
- found my beetroot seeds
- my new daily planner is here!!! Designed for scattered minds - undated, has a “most important things” sublist, and a “brain dump” page every 7 days for planning out the week. Can’t wait to use this on Monday!
Time to do gardening pt 2 real quick now that the sun is off my plants, then get into the kitchen. Think I can only make the arroz verde and then I’m done.
Huh. That first paragraph basically sums up my day too, minus the COVID bit. I had a decent sleep but woke up after a very bad dream, did some vacuuming and general housework, etc, but yesterday I went for a walk and got fish and chips and some vitamin D so today was a downgrade. And I woke up ever so slightly sickly, nothing major, but tomorrow I’ll either be completely fine or I’ll be really sick
More cleaning today, job made way harder by biodegradable bags exploding into a billion pieces of confetti and getting on everything and breaking down at a touch when picking them up.
Looking forward to some chicken that I seasoned last night and let sit in the fridge overnight, going to see if that makes a difference in flavour.
Anyway more spaces cleaned up for the moment, will resume tomorrow and hopefully I can start to move some furniture around pending vacuuming of stupid left over bag confetti.
