I don’t know if I’m blind or getting too old or what, but I cannot find the instance rules anywhere. Can someone help me?
ETA: for context, a comment of mine was removed and “rule 2” was cited but the rules in the TOS don’t seem to be relevant.
They call it a “Terms of Service” but it includes the rules and regulations.
https://legal.lemmy.world/tos/
It’s in the sidebar on the front page.
Thanks for your input. I received the message that my comment was removed from “automod@lemmy.world”, so that combined with the fact the community’s rule 2 was “no tiktok posts” led me to believe it was a .world action. Your take makes more sense.
Interesting! I wonder if the automod at lemmy.world is just reporting all moderation actions, regardless of instance origin?
I don’t think the automod on lemmy.world works the same way as it does on reddit. I think it does more reporting of moderation actions than doing automatic moderation, but I could be wrong.
Anyway, thanks for your feedback as well. I was aware of how lemmy.world was informing people of moderator actions, and I think it’s really interesting that it is including actions from different instances when they’re interacted with on lemmy.world.
Automod reports because the users is from here.
Go to your profile, settings, blocks, Instances and add lemmy.ml. That massively helps you enjoy the fediverse more.
Our automod does NOT automoderate anything else than blocklisted urls / words. The notification only happens if:
- You are on Lemmy.world
- The moderator is on Lemmy.world
- The community is on Lemmy.world
We will changing the wording of the text soon enough as this is a common missunderstanding.

Not sure which comment you’re referring to, but are you sure “rule 2” was referencing the lemmy.world TOS and not the community rules where you posted your comment?
Exactly. It’s a moderator action on a lemmy.ml community. lemmy.world rules are literally not applicable.
I edited my original comment to reflect the OP’s edit.
I guess the rules of the instance you’re posting from always apply, in addition to the rules of the instance you’re posting in. If you’re posting stuff that’s not tolerated by your instance it will probably kick you out, no matter which communities you post in. :)
That’s helpful, and part of what I’ve found, but I don’t think that’s what I’m looking for.
A comment of mine was removed earlier today and “rule 2” was cited, but I don’t see any relation to the rules in the TOS.
That’s almost certainly the rules for that particular forum.
