Crazy how in the other place threads about world events get swarmed overnight when most of us are asleep. Really makes you think.

I notice that here too, which really annoys me. I understand it a little bit more on Reddit, but it pisses me off so much when there’s an article from abc.net.au posted in c/AustralianNews@aussie.zone and half the comments are just Americans being confused.

I guess that’s the one positive of the week long federation delays with Lemmy World - most of the Americans are segregated into their own isolated cosm for about a week until it federates over here

Crazy tooth pain tuesday night, saw my dentist yesterday, tooth extracted (2nd one in 2 months but it had to go), today is pretty much pain free with like no soreness in my gums or jaw. I’m glad, but also odd.

yikes! Not ideal. I had a mate describe a root canal as the worst pain he’s ever experienced. Takes his dental hygiene VERY seriously now.

I have never felt pain as bad as tooth pain. Last time I was lying down on the floor at the dentist in tears waiting to see the dentist. Fucking awful shit.

I can assure you a ruptured ovarian cyst is worse in the instant, but it goes away. As do kidney stones. Dental stuff drags on and on. Much worse than single shot near crits.

This was going to be either a root canal (got quoted 3k for it) or a pull. I opted for the pull as it’s instant and about 1/10 of the price.

Interestingly enough, I brush twice a day, floss daily, avoid sugary shit etc. Sometimes it’s just genetic unfortunately. I inherited my dad’s crappy teeth instead of my mum’s.

Partner has hyperdontia, aka Sharkmouth. Genetic and apparently a generation skipper. Losing a bunch of teeth to several violent things turned out cosmetically better?!?!

My wife has that!! She had some removed in her early 20s (jaw was too small) before her wisdom teeth grew in. She got those out about 15 years ago. All up she still has more teeth than me and has had like 6 or 7 removed.

            Crazy

If patterns fall your grandkids will be fine and the next lot be very expensive. Apparently his Pop could stop a bar fight by smiling.

Plenty of teeth left still :) One day I’ll to SE Asia and do a full rebuild. The one that was pulled a few months back was a wisdom, so no real loss there

Electric heat pump unit. My usage went from $$$ (old gas guzzling unit) to peanuts. Pays itself off very quickly and there was a government rebate for switching.

My landlord is actually really good. House is pretty shit but he’s a really chill guy. Feel pretty lucky. I wish I could transport this place about 10kms closer to the city.

Just an update again from earlier.

    Good news and bad news….fuck.

A mechanic near me can do the replacement work for 30 dollars unless something unusual happens and he takes longer it’ll cost more.

Bad news is that after I got home I checked my headlights and the smaller one on the opposite side is not working either.

No idea at the moment how much it’ll all cost but this isn’t looking good and there’s also a chance that all 4 lights need to be replaced.

No idea now but I’ll have to wait till I get paid next week since the costs will likely blow out when I have time off to deal with this but I’ll check with them tomorrow to see what they think and if they have stock of the globes.

Semi related…I heard a random ad on a podcast today saying that a cup of vinegar in the wash is better than fabric softener. I don’t use fabric softener, but I don’t know where I want to test the vinegar thing…you know, in case the towels come out smelling like vinegar…?

Surprisingly, no. You can’t smell the vinegar, even with excessive amounts.

I personally wouldn’t use a whole cup full, but it’s fantastic for getting funky smells out of things

nope, it gets washed out in the rinse. I always fill the softener in my top loader with white vinegar.

They don’t. Add to the rinse water, and the smell is gone by the time the spin cycle has finished. I second this hack - vinegar does wonderful things to hair as a rinse too. Unless your hair is coloured, where a vinegar rinse wouldn’t help at all. Mine isn’t coloured, so I rinse with a generous tablespoon of vinegar to 1 litre of water after shampooing, and don’t need conditioner. At first you notice the smell, but it’s gone in 5 minutes. The mild acid neutralises the soap part of washing powder and hair shampoo.

Now this hotel doesn’t have very good soundproofing (at this point I don’t believe any building in Australia does) and I can hear everything happening in the hallway and the rooms next to me. BUT I’ve got a splitty in my room and I set it to come on if it goes under 19 and this is great. So much easier to wake up when it’s not like 5° in your room

I still couldn’t get a very good sleep though. Dozed off again at 5:30 or so and woke up again now. But tonight I’ll have a better sleep

Eleven days since I tested, twelve since the symptoms hit. Spoke to the nurse at my practice and she said it’s not surprising as I’ve still got symptoms, and this variant tends to linger, but if I’m still coughing next week give them a call and they’ll reevaluate.
