I’m looking for a tea caddy spoon and fell down a rabbit hole of T2 fancy teas and infusions and weighing and timing and i’m just like…dude i’m too fucking poor white for this shit. I shovel it into a giant pot, fill it with boiling water then strain out the gooblies with a sieve as my ancestors did.

Just had a look at the AFL ladder after tonight’s games. There are 6 teams on 32 points. If Hawthorn wins over West Coast tomorrow, they’ll join them for 7 teams. Even though they’ll have a crappy percentage. Next few rounds will be interesting.

Apart from Sydney being well clear it’s a logjam down below and it’s been a rather strange season as well with teams dropping off badly and some teams coming back from nowhere like Hawthorn.

Going to make the next few wins or losses very important for those teams.

@Duenan @Thornburywitch Hawthorn is currently on 7 wins, with games still to come against West Coast, North, Adelaide, and Richmond.

On recent form, percentage aside, I could definitely see them ending up in the finals…

That reminds me. I saw the other day you were saying your PC isn’t that great. I’ve got a spare i7 board and CPU you can have. Can send it to you via mail if you want it.

It’s pretty much gathering dust. Not too old either. I just can’t remember the exact model of CPU.

I’m an AMD guy now lol

For all we know a City of Melbourne employee installed a free trial 10 years ago using their work email. That tends to be how these logo showcases work.

I think that’s how Slack and Atlassian got so many logos for their websites. Look through the free tier for recognisable brands and download the press kit

Nicest thing about weather like this is the fact that dickheads in their fart-ripping shitboxxen aren’t out and about making everyone else suffer for their insecurities. Usually it’s wall to wall look at me, ma! on a sat night.

When I was in Adelaide in March we went to dinner at some rooftop burger place on Friday night. There was a dude in one of those cars without a lid that makes far too much noise blasting music driving around the block and revving at the lights (we were on a corner). It was so weird. I don’t understand what makes people just do loops of the block for hours on end… Who can even afford that much petrol!

I’ve decided to quit vaping. I had to buy a shitty disposable today and it makes my chest hurt compared to the normal refillable ones I usually use.

These things are really fucking bad for your lungs. Way worse than the refillables.

Once again, Labor has decided to remove the safe option and keep the dangerous one available everywhere.

All normal refillable vape shops close tomorrow for good. Well done Labor. Well fucking done.

I totally forgot The Bear s3 is out now. I hear it’s not as great as the first two seasons as it was filmed alongside s4 so it feels more drawn out, but that’s fine by me because holy hell the first two seasons were so intense I felt like I needed two weeks and a few therapy sessions to recover.

Time to get the fried rice out and fire up Stremio.

I wanted to get into that but just couldn’t for some reason. Only watched the first few episodes, but I feel almost certain that if I can make it past the first season it will probably become one of my favourite shows. I’m just weird like that

quietly loads up deluge it was kinda an eye opener watching with His Lordship - especially the christmas ep. I could literally hear his sphincter clenching from across the room once tgey got going - but his family is functional. Mine? Well lets just say my anus remained unclenched.

Has anyone got a nice simple puff pastry recipe they use and can recommend? I made homemade sausage rolls today and my filling was delicious, but I’m annoyed at the bought pastry I used. It was awful! I’ve tried every brand of readily available bought puff and it’s all awful, I’m over it.

You can’t go wrong with Julia Childs’ recipie - many heaps of vijos on youtoob. This is the old school classic, and takes a fair bit of work and time. The good side is that the raw pastry freezes well, so making a large batch and only using the portion you need for one use, and then for the next use 90% of the work is already done - at least until the stash is used up. Recommend using unsalted cultured butter for the authentic flavor. The original and best.

For quick pastry, I like using the Womens Weekly Rough Puff for savory recipies - so quick and easy and the results taste just fine though the texture is not quite as flaky. Again, one zillion recipies on youtoob. You can play a bit fast and loose with the proportions for this recipie depending on what you have available, so it’s a very user friendly method. The only real secret is using chilled water to mix and resting the dough before rolling out and using. This weather is perfect for pastry - it’s a pain to make in hot weather.

I like dogs but the fact is I’m allergic to them. And my allergies to cats are exponentially worse.

For some reason I’ve been blessed with a hyperactive immune system. Spring as you can imagine is a real bitch. But I must say my symptoms are not nearly as bad now as they were when I was a kid.

Miserable weather today. The car was getting very low on fuel but I didn’t really want to stop. I’d seen petrol this morning at 193c so made a bargain with myself that I would stop if it was below 190, but otherwise I would put it off. Damn petrol station had 187c. I was very affronted by its refusal to cooperate in my attempt to avoid stopping so decided to make a stand and refuse to fill up at such a rude and uncooperative petrol station. Home has now been successfully achieved and petrol can wait for another day.

Watching petrol prices fascinates me so much, since I don’t have a car. It’s $1.80 one day and then a week later it’s $2.03? But then you can get it for $1.90 if you drive to the other side of the city

The price increases tend to be one sudden jump upwards and then a slow slide downwards too. The different stations used to be fairly synchronised but they are all over the place these days.

I have the Petrol Spy app which tracks the prices at different places and it has a graph which shows the average prices over the last couple of months for each state. The different price pattern between them are crazy. We currently have price cycles that go up then back down over about a month, Perth apparently has dramatic weekly fluctuations. I’m pretty sure Melbourne’s price cycles used to be a lot shorter, it would be interesting to have comparison over time as well.

All the petrol stations on Plenty road are the same price from the ring road out to Mernda, regardless of company. Then the first petrol station south of the ring road is 15-20c cheaper. Very interesting

I was running a bit low to risk an airport run yesterday so I put in $15 worth at a 7/11 doing 1.84/L, I think. It was a very short stop… but it’ll get me through another week at least.

These have come up very nicely! No abrasives needed, just a damn good oil soak. Their weighting is perfect. Modern tools so oft suck.
