For what it’s worth i might have a lot of them already, just curious if I’m missing any
Ablaci origin, decentraleyes, clearURLs and Sponsorblock for YouTube -skip sponsorship
Since no one is naming it:
- Firefox Multi-Account Containers
And temporary containers!
This right there is the Firefox killer feature that Chrome can’t dream of right now, and that freaking no one knows it exists!
…and it plays well with cookie auto delete!
noscript is essential security-wise IMO
Obsoleted by uBlock Origin. Hard mode if you must.
uBlock Origin does not block javascript execution depending on the domain. They do not serve the same purpose.
I don’t know if that’s what you meant, but you can block JavaScript per-site, block first or third-party scripts separately, etc
I stand corrected, that does look close to noscript’s feature, thanks !
Though I don’t know if it has a “whitelist mode” (all JS disabled by default everywhere but content still fetched) like the default noscript has.
Find the wiki page for “hard mode.”
I use umatrix on top of ublock. It does give more insight in what you want to allow
uMatrix is abandoned by the developer
Removed by mod
For me i am careful not to trust to many addons. Several addons have “turned against the user”. I trust gorhill and ublock origin. I only install verified by Firefox. Disable when not needed anymore.
Besides that i think Multu account containers cookieautodelete Bitwarden Treestyle tab
I also use vimium although it pains me or had access to everything, and it’s not verified. So it only runs in nonessential windows.
For better multi-account container support, you might want to look at Sidebery instead of Tree Style Tab.
Sideberry didn’t workout for me. The groups feature didn’t work as expected / wanted.
New Lemmy Post: The “essential” firefox addons/scripts/ublock filters etc? (https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/8982919)

Joshi Koukousei Captcha Service
Wtf is this?
Looks like an AI-driven captcha solver for 4chan. The reviews mention something about not having to buy a pass so I guess 4chan charges to get around the captchas. Lol.
- F.B Purity - Cleans up Facebook
There’s no cleaning that shit up.
Bypass Paywalls Clean got pulled from the Firefox repository but you can still sideload it from github.
Finally someone that mentions an
Enable Right Click
extension. There’s a few out there but I use “Absolute Enable Right Click & Copy” as well.On top of return youtube dislike & sponsorblock I will highly recommend BlockTube, it optionally removes shorts, the video pause and & popup asking if you’re still there, and a few other things. I’ve tried the “remove youtube loudness normalization” option but volume is just all over the place no matter what.
Of course these are specific to youtube and not essential for anyone who uses an alternative
You can disable right click hijacking with dom.event.contextmenu.enabled in about:config, I don’t think you need an extension for that
You don’t even need to do that, all you have to do is hold shift when you right click, and it circumvents any hijacking.
Enable right click, that sounds like something I need, it’s a bit stupid how often I want to right click something and I can’t
Don’t Fuck With Paste - for all those stupid websites that think pasting my email address from my clipboard extender (Ditto-cp) is somehow unreliable.
Can we stop them messing with a tab’s history ? Like aliexpress does
NoScript. It can be a little more demanding of you as a user, (I often find myself enabling single scripts at a time until a web page will function properly) but the sense of security, privacy, and being left the hell alone is worth it.
TREE STYLE TAB
for ublock, i live and filter from imre. they’re fantastic.
I use steven black host lists for ublock origin filters
Ublock origin
Privacybadger
Cookiebro
Anti-adblock killer userscript
Sponsorblock
Arent privaxy badger cookiebro and anti Adblock killer pointless if you use ublock origin with the cookie and anti adblock lists enabled?
LibRedirect - A web extension that redirects YouTube, Twitter, TikTok, and other websites to alternative privacy friendly frontends YouTube → Invidious , Piped , Piped-Material , CloudTube , PokeTube , FreeTube , Yattee YouTube Music → Beatbump , Hyperpipe Twitter → Nitter TikTok → ProxiTok Reddit → Libreddit , Teddit Imgur → Rimgo Pixiv → PixivFE
Dude, thank you, I was so pissed about reddit links in search ergines I had to click because I needed the info they contained.
Now I can fight.
Actually, you can use any SearXNG instance as your search engine, most of which already redirect their results to privacy focused frontends. Like searx.tiekoetter.com.
As a violin/piano player, librescore script
As a person who can’t stand table tea spoons and other not precise units of measurements, a script that converts all those voodoo units into metric
From addons also would like to add that add-on that adds a flag to a site
Translation add-on
Also, I don’t use a password manager add-on, hotkeying is just so much nicer
These are not really “essential”, just telling everyone some things i’m enjoying 😋
I agree with you that tablespoons are not the best metric but I would rather want to know if a recipe was telling me to use an imprecise measurement or a precise one. If it says to add 10g of something it was probably tested with that; if it says use 3 tablespoons, usually I can basically add as much or as little as I like (within reason). Anyway, you actually lose a bit of info on the amount of precision specified
I personally measure everything, and it should be especially important for people making recipes
A good recipe is the one to make the exact or a very close copy of the dish, not an approximately dish alike
Especially if you make something precise like soap, cheese, and other stuff. Gladly soap makers started using grams for lye… Yes until not a long ago people were using spoons for lye 🫠
Could you elaborate on librescore script please? How do I get it how does it work. I searched and only got the website librescore
uBlock Origin
Bitwarden
